I do have my acls, not my pals. It isnt required, but looks good on the resume. you should get yours! especially if youre looking into critical care.

they said " your par finally cleared and weve got a start date for you. did you still want to come work for us??" sounds like theyve been getting turn downs.

Nurse Jaydee, I just called nurse recruitment. By the annoyed tone of her voice, it sounds like they get the same calls quite frequently. I asked her if i had fallen off the hired list, her reply (without asking my name, mind you) : you havent fallen off, just waiting for that budget to clear. then i mentioned that there are new hires of the same cohort of 98 nurses that already started, do you know what determines who starts and who doesnt because i thought the budget hadnt cleared? Her reply: wish i had the answer to that myself. Anyway, thats what I got from following up. Don't really know what else to do but show up there in person and ask? What are you doing in the meanwhile Nurse Jaydee? Do you work some place else?

Volunteer Pioneer,So will you be full time on med surg until they figure out when theyll put you on their initial promise of working on an ICU? Are all the people that you started with suppose to eventually go to ICUs? And did they do this because you all didnt have any nursing experience whatsoever upon starting? Sorry, so many questions.

Not since last year. Everytime I have, it's the same thing: budget. Have you called them recently?

Im still waiting over here, for a start date. Been cleared with everything since August '11... Don't think I can wait around any longer, Sallie Mae don't wait for nobody! Haha. But I've been graduated since spring '10, need to start work at an acute facility so I can get back to school sooner than later... At first I was down for the wait, but the longer it's taking the more discouraging it has become. But on a happier note, Good luck! Haha

Got hired onto SICU. Ive been keeping in contact with the nurse manager for the unit and apparantly she doesnt have much answers for me either about my start date. What unit did you get hired onto?

Since August 19th... which at that time was told that i'd start "septemberish??" (note the doubt in between the quotations) haha just kidding... i just hope it follows through. I have heard stories about people being promised a position but never giving them a start date and just letting them wait and wait. and this girl even went to the la county nursing school!

Oh okay. Well thats good news, at least theyre trying. hahh. and exciting for you! hopefully the wait for you to actually start isnt as long as mine :/

Nurse Jaydee, did she say she was going to try to have all new hire RNs that still need a physical, to get one on monday? or was she going to try to also get the new hires who havent gotten a start date, to come in on monday as well?
