Hello everybody. I am an RN. I would like to continue my education to BSN and then MSN (NP) but I am not very clear about school accrediations in CA. The school that I want to enroll (University of Texas at Arlington) for my BSN is an online program and is accredited by CCNE only. I am concerned that when I get my BSN from there I may not be able to continue my education in to MSN because the school is NOT accredited by WASC. Does California require CCNE AND WASC accrediation or just CCNE is enough in order to continue BSN to MSN ? Thank you all!!

Hey guys, I have a question. I had an interview with LAC+USC and received a letter that I passed the oral exam. I read in the letter that they are going to contact me if positions open up. I am a new grad RN. Have you been in my situation? How long does it take until they call you? Do we have another interview after the oral interview or this is it? Does somedoy knows how is the salary difference of psychiatric nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist in psych?

Hey Scrubby, do you know if new grad RNs have to go through some kind of training to become a scrub nurse? Can you do scrubbing right after graduation or we need some experience in med surg? how is the pay? I am located in Los Angeles,CA. Thanks a lot.

Hey guys I will be graduating soon the RN program, do you think that prisons in CA (Los Angeles County) hire new grads? or have some residency programs? I am sorry but I don't have any information about it. I am wondering where to look and I thought that the best and correct answer I will get from you. Are there opportunities in prisons in CA for new grads? Is it dangerous for a girl? What do RNs mainly do there? Thanks a lot!

Go for RN, more opportunities, more salary. I am Rn student alsmot graduating and I was interested in scrubbing, but I went through a lot of different specialties in the nursing school ( I am not done yet:) and I realized that there are other things also that I like, so let her go for RN and then as she is in the program she will decide what she wants. Scrubbing is always possible, let her try more.

Hey lsvalliant I am sorry for you and the inconvinience that you are experiencing, it's really surprising that you can't find a job here in LA but don't give up keep on looking i am sure you will find something because there is shortage right?:) Maybe you are right I shouldn't be that picky..I just loved psych but maybe I will do some med surg before the psych,I am just wondering if I can handle the 12 hour shifts..but we will see. By the way I am in West La and I was thinking about the psych in the UCLA. It's great there if you haven't apply you should, i have been in clinicals and love it. One question..is there difference in pay in med surg and psych? Good luck!

I am going to graduate soon and I loved mental health. I know that I should work in med surg floor for some experience before going into mental health because i heard if you go to mental health is hard to get out of there. I don't know what to do, can anyone suggest me if I go into the psych right after I graduate I will lose a good opportunity in med surg? Has anyone gone to psych right after graduation? And how are the salaries there? :) Thank you guys
