UCLA New Grad RN SUMMER 2011

Summer hopefuls talk here.... good luck to us all!!! :nurse: :redbeathe

I also had my Talent Plus interview last Tuesday and only received the reference e-mail the next day. I had the references finished on Friday. I wonder if I'll hear anything this week. That April 1st date is kinda nerve-wracking! It seems too soon for people who have not even gotten the phone call. Man, I am nervous. Good luck everyone! I'll be playing the waiting game too. For the people who have been contacted for an in-person interview, did you have your references completed after they called and how long after did they call?? It seems like some people got the reference e-mail early on while others got it later.

i also applied to pedi units and haven't heard anything yet

Anyone else getting grey hair or losing hair yet?! I think I am.

Specializes in NICU, Women's Health.
Has anyone heard anything from ER?

Hello Ohmeohmy!

I listed NICU/ED/ICU as my top 3 and have not heard anything since my Talent Plus interview Tues 3/21. My status has also not changed--still says "we have contacted you for an interview" as of 3/15/11. I have heard that the process extends from 3-6 months depending on when they review your initial online app & when they contact unit managers to find out how many new grads they are accepting. Let's keep positive everybody!

I have also applied early this month , but just recently uploaded the additional documents, however i have taken my boards 3 times and have not passed yet, any suggestions i am trully scared and worried at this point

How are you studying for your boards? My school uses something called ATI to help us prepare, but its really expensive and probably not necessary..if you already have it use it tho!

Then there is also the Lippincott RN NCLEX review books. You should use the CD from the book and do 250 questions at a time basically every day before your test. You can review what areas you need to study more. My teacher recommended doing 250 because there is the potential where you'll have to sit there and do 250 questions, and she wants us to be prepared to sit there a long time if we have to. I would start out doing like 100 at a time and increasing it because it's a real pain to do that many at once and I think it'd be overwhelming to focus on what you need to.

My top choice was med surg..anyone hear anything? I'm surprised at how many people applied to the ICU's! Good luck!!

Specializes in Nursing.

OMG is it true that if you don't hear by HR by this week for an interview, that we aren't in the running for in-person interviews?!?

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhh this process is killing me LOL

Hi, Everyone! Thank you for all of the information about the UCLA new grad application process. I am keeping my fingers crossed for everyone! I don't have any new info to add, but I will if I do. In the meantime, I'm with all of you - just trying to stay positive (and sane;))during this process:) Have a great day!

Where else did you all apply to besides UCLA? Is UCLA your top choice to work?

I talked to someone from recruitment and they also told me if you didn't hear by April 1st, you are probably not being considered. Did anyone get any phone calls to verify unit choices?

I got that call this morning, when I saw the 825 number, my heart skipped a beat...I wonder if they are doing that to organize interviews ahead?? Let's hope so :)

Parlislon - what units did you apply? They were verifying L&D vs. NICU. I didn't even know L&D was an option. Let's hope this is a good sign. Good luck!
