UCLA New Grad Residency Winter 2017

Published

Hi Everyone!

UCLA's application for their new grad residency program opened today so I thought I'd make a forum where we could all chat & support each other through the stressful process. Good luck to everyone who applies!

STAFF UPDATE

Tell us about UCLA by visiting University of California (UCLA) School of Nursing | Peer Reviews.

To the in-state applicants, how long do you think it actually takes from LAX to the Wilshire center. Google says 30 minutes, but I've heard about crazy LA traffic. Trying to decide how early to book my flight, thanks!

Hey farmraised!

Depending on the time of day, it could take up to an hour to get from LAX to the Wilshire Center. It will probably only take 30-45 minutes but you never really know with LA traffic so it's better to be safe than sorry in this situation. Hope that helps and congrats on your interview!

Nope. I'm an external applicant (in-state). Did you end up getting an email invite for your second choice instead?

For the people who were invited from the ED for an interview, were you each internal applicants?

Got an email invite for UCLA Peds today (Friday 11/4)! SO EXCITED! It was my 1st choice. There were 2 interview days available with morning/afternoon slots. Good luck to everyone! Seems like they're sending them out slowly and randomly by unit and not a lot of the time slots were filled yet. Hang in there!

I want to know this too 😬

I received an invite to peds earlier today. It will be the unit directors from UCLA Santa Monica and Mattel children's hospital. They said it was a 30 minute interview and it appeared there were 16 spots available.

Good luck all! It also looked like 80% of the interview spots hadn't been signed up for.

Does anyone know whether the interview is held in a group or individually?

I actually got an interview invite the day after my original post! I am also an external applicant. Are you graduating this December with your BSN or MSN?

@seebella

I'm assuming it is one interview with the people it specifies. For me it listed two people and I chose one time slot.

Hey out of state people!

i recently applied for my CA license.. I know its super late and I can only pray that I will get it in time if I do get hired! I just wanted to give you a heads up about the finger printing process. If you go to the interview.. they will live scan you twice. First one is for UCLA (free) and the second option.. you can pay $70 for your live scan for the BON. When I submitted my application, I also requested a temporary license because I know my transcripts won't be there in time! Just a suggestion to hopefully speed up the process.. :)

Are we supposed to have applied for our CA license if we're out of state? Or are some of you waiting until after the interview?

It takes about 3-4months to get your license endorsed depending on the time of year. I would definitely get all your paperwork in now! It takes them Weeks just to acknowledge paperwork you sent in if at all. Apply online, do live scan(have to physically be in CA to do it). It'll be way quicker. They also don't ever answer their phones.

it was a painful process! Good luck. Hope it goes fast for you.
