UCLA New Grad Residency Winter 2017

Published

Hi Everyone!

UCLA's application for their new grad residency program opened today so I thought I'd make a forum where we could all chat & support each other through the stressful process. Good luck to everyone who applies!

STAFF UPDATE

Tell us about UCLA by visiting University of California (UCLA) School of Nursing | Peer Reviews.

Do you guys know if we will receive any sort of verification for our chosen interview time slot? Or is the initial email the only communication we will get from them prior to our interview? I just want to make sure that I'm not missing anything. Good luck everyone!

@nursienurse88

I am pretty sure that we do not get any sort of confirmation email after we pick a time slot. The initial email for the interview invite should be the only form of communication before you see them for your interview. Hope this helps with the nerves!

Yeah I found a lot of posts about CA BON taking a long time.. I'm praying that UCLA comes through.. If not CA is still on my radar so i just makes sense for me to apply early regardless!

Hello Everyone!

Sorry to join the conversation a bit late but I'm interviewing for Neuro/Trauma ICU! Does anyone know when they usually tell applicants if they are or aren't hired after the interview?

From last years thread it appeared people found out early to mid January :/. However, it seems like last years hiring process was later than this years. They had first interviews late November-mid December whereas this year interviews were scheduled starting the week of November 14. Hopefully we can find out earlier this year.

It really depends on the unit too and how well you interview I'm sure. If they're confident they definitely want you to fill one of those spots they have open I suppose you could find out pretty early on.

fingers crossed for getting an offer mid December! It would be a huge relief and great xmas present.

Hi All!

I hope everyone's interviews are going well! How have they been so far? I'd love to hear about it for those who have interviewed already. I had mine for Neuro/Trauma ICU yesterday and it was the quickest 20 minutes of my life! And for those who haven't interviewed yet, we are all sending you good vibes!

oh wonderful! How do you think it went? Did they give you any indication of a timeline for the hiring process from that point on? I'll let you know how my interview goes this Friday! Lots of behavioral questions i'm guessing?

Hey donolo!

I thought the interview went pretty well but you never really know with these things. The interview was short but everyone I interviewed with was very nice and I was invited for a unit tour immediately after, which I hope is a good sign. And the unit director said we wouldn't start receiving offers until the end of next month so, unfortunately, that means another long waiting game :blackeye:. But, yes, let me know how your interview goes! I wish you and anyone else interviewing the very best!

P.S. For anyone who interviewed for Neuro/Trauma ICU, do you know if they do 2nd interviews? It completely slipped my mind to ask.

Hii, @m2912. I also interviewed for neurotrauma ICU and in your exact position, no 2nd interview just had a tour of the unit. I haven't heard anything about a 2nd interview but the director told me that she was going to be doing interviews again next week... so I'm not sure if this is for 2nd interviews or new interviewees.

Hope this is a good sign for both of us too!

So I'm not sure if anyone is wondering about Peds anymore. Let me just say...

the interview was an intense event. Had interview early morning with unit directors in a building separate from the hospitals, then I went to both Ronald Regan and UCLA SM afterwords for second interviews with nurse managers and then floor staff! I definitely got my elevator speech down lol.

Be ready for pannels!

I was was not expecting it at all but think it went really great! I was psyched to get to meet everyone in one day and see the units. So...be prepared! All in all it took 3 hours or so, not including commute time.

good luck everyone.

P.S. Only 4 spots open between both hospitals. 2 @SM and 2@ronald regan

Did you interview for PICU? I had my interview on Friday as well, but was not invited for a hospital tour or a second interview at the end of my interview. Was just wondering if I still had a chance, I know some hospitals group together the first and second interview if you are out of state.
