Hey Guys!
Just wanted to start a thread for people who applied to UCLA's new grad nurse residency program! Lets keep each other updated!
Hi all, feel free to yell at me to get out of here and research on my own, but I have to ask: what's the point of applying to a new grad residency? To get more educational experience under your belt as you transition into the workforce? Are you all applying to both new grad residencies and hospital/clinic positions?
(For FreeShrugs, I'm sorry it wouldn't let me quote your post)
Hi! So new grad residency positions place you directly into the work floor on a unit you're interested in, but with a "preceptor" or someone that will mentor you for a while. For UCLA, the new grad residency is a paid full time job that lasts 1 year long where you take relevant (paid) classes and have 25 RN shifts with an experience RN who will help teach you and refresh anything you may have forgotten. Most new grad RN positions are in hospitals, not so much in clinics :)
