Has anyone heard anything back from the UCLA New Grad Summer Program for 2010? I applied in the beginning of February and have only had a phone interview so far, with no feedback yet. Any info or others' experience would be much appreciated, thank you!
Hi everyone,
Congratulations to those who were offered a position!
I, too, was extended a position ronald reagan last week and can't wait to start.
@Potassium, I think it depends on the manager when you will do all your paperwork because mine said to wait and she will e-mail me all the information needed.
Goodluck to everyone!!
I was told that the unit manager would call HR to get the paperwork started, but I'll double check. My floor requires ACLS and an EKG certificate, but I've got those already and a current TB test, so I'm not sure what's left besides the physical and employment forms. I think the new grad program classes start 3/14, and all the new hires attend, whether or not they've started on the floor.
Yes I think it differs according to the unit. My manager said that the first classes all the new residents have to take are the computer classes and she thought those days were March 10 & 11th. She also mentioned more classes on the 15th & 16th, but said we (CT step down) would definitely start orienting on the unit between the 11th and 15th.
congratulations to everyone who were offered positions its nice to see that a handful of people on allnurses have been offered positions thus far. i wish you guys all the best with your future careers!
has anyone been offered a position or interviewed for Neuro/Trauma ICU? I have it next week and am BEYONDDDDD NERVOUS. ahhhh
Congrats onestepatatime! I'm interviewing for the PICU on Thursday and I'm so nervous I can hardly stand it! Do you have any suggestions or tips? I wish I could send you a message but I'm new to this site and don't think I am able to yetCongrats again!
I know it sounds cliche, but my best advice is to be yourself. This was the first time in an interview that was really able to be confident, comfortable, and myself. I think in previous interviews I had been way too robotic. Everyone I interviewed with was super nice and seemed like they wanted to know that you were aware of the high acuity of the patients, that you are passionate about nursing (and specifically PICU nursing), and that you will be dedicated to working at UCLA. Good luck!
onestepatatime: congratulations to you ! how exciting !!!
..and... I think you provided an appropriate and honest "cliche"...
I totally agree - be yourself - let yourself shine... the people I met in HR and in PICU were very nice and genuine in their interactions. The best thing is to be 'you' and be genuine.
I interviewed last week but haven't heard back yet... It sounds like there are more PICU interviews this coming week - I hope we are all chosen and get to work together - seems like the passion and dedication is there for all of us and that counts for a lot in PICU! This is my dream job, so I hope I get the opportunity to join the team... I felt great about a lot of my interview and really 'off' a couple of times... I was so nervous and felt like I was in a fog sometimes so I think I let myself get too nervous and it impacted my "genuine-ness" at times.... sigh...
Good luck - keep us posted!
Thanks so much for the tips! I'll try my best to not let my nerves get the better of me! Im excited for this opportunity and hope it works out for all of us! For those of you who interviewed in the PICU, did you have any clinical scenario questions? I know there is no way to be prepared for everything but i was just curious if you guys encountered any! I can't wait until Friday when this is all over and I can be in the same boat as you all...
obiwanjj I hope you hear good news soon! Thanks again
