Has anyone heard anything back from the UCLA New Grad Summer Program for 2010? I applied in the beginning of February and have only had a phone interview so far, with no feedback yet. Any info or others' experience would be much appreciated, thank you!
Yeah I remember Sheri saying that as well. I also overheard Mandi at HR telling someone else that we should come in on Monday in casual clothing and that they will give us a pair of scrubs when we get there. Also for the previous poster (I forget your name I apologize) who was asking about housing. I live in Sherman Oaks and LOVE it. Its cute, convenient and reasonably priced. I don't know how it compares to West Hollywood since I'm not from California originally but I thought I would throw that out there in case you were still looking.

Sherman Oaks is definitely better priced than WeHo and if you can't afford Sherman Oaks, going a little farther north along the 405 freeway, it gets cheaper. Less cute but cheaper. I'm a local so I know my ways about.
Re: Scrubs
Sheri said that we're given 3 sets. Anyone know if that includes the scrub jacket? I get the feeling that we'll have to pay extra for that one.
I spoke with my unit director (3 Tower - Geriatric Stepdown) a few days ago and she said business casual clothing was fine for orientation starting on Monday. She didn't know when we would be getting our uniforms, but probably by the end of the week?
Did anyone get hired for Peds? My offer email said that the start date is August 24th. I've already finished my paperwork with the nursing office, picked up my scrubs, and cleared my physical (TB, drug test, etc), but no one told me I needed to get fingerprints done. How did you guys know to do that? Also, I haven't spoken to Sheri after my initial HR interview back in May. Am I missing some HR thing?? Is orientation THIS Monday for ALL new grads??

Now that you mention it, I think she said we get the scrub jacket in addition to the three pairs of scrubs. I could be mistaken though...

Some units have different orientations because I for one am not going to the orientation this upcoming monday, but instead going to a NICU specific orientation/class. Perhaps you should call your hiring manager to confirm?
Okay so I just called Mandi at SM-UCLA HR.
If you were instructed to show up on Monday for hospital orientation at SM-UCLA: Valet park your car and we'll be receiving our parking passes and ID badges later that day once we meet with parking, security, etc. Nursing orientation is on Tuesday and that is when we will get information regarding scrubs, get fitted for scrubs, etc. No idea what happens on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, but I figured we'd learn more after Day 1.
Time to relax and breathe now. :)
p.s. Mandi also said that the room that orientation is being held in gets really cold, so bring a sweater or jacket!

Hi,
Congrats again to everyone that is going to be starting @ UCLA! Where did everyone find housing? I just found a place yesterday in West Hollywood, but I am a little nervous about the price bc it is way more than I have ever spent on an apt before. But, I love the neighborhood and its less than 3 miles to RR. Good luck to everyone as you tie up loose ends and get settled!
