UCLA New Grad Program 2010

Has anyone heard anything back from the UCLA New Grad Summer Program for 2010? I applied in the beginning of February and have only had a phone interview so far, with no feedback yet. Any info or others' experience would be much appreciated, thank you!

Hello, I just got a hold of my unit manager today. She told me that the orientation will take place this coming Monday. I still haven't done my physical yet for the position. I don't know what I should do.

I don't even know when and where to attend for the orientation? Can someone please tell me.

I was just wondering for those who have been hired at SM, did the unit manager call or emailed everyone for the physical and the orientation?

I am going today to the HR to get my fingerprints done.

I still don't know what to do after that.

hey lingling786. Were your hired to 6 tower telemetry at SM as well? I was hired there back in June but did not get an appointment to meet with HR until this past Monday which apparently is not enough time to clear all the paper work for this Monday so they told me I could not attend orientation with everyone else! I am not sure whats going to happen now and no one wlll answer my questions so I am sort of freaking out haha. If you have any info I would sooo appreciate it if you can share it with me!

The paperwork and physical at HR is easy and can be done in a couple hours-the problem lies in the TB testing. UCLA does two TB tests: you get a TB test, it's read 7 days later, then you get another TB test that's read 3 days later. If you have had a TB test within the last year, you only have to do the 3 day TB test. That's going to be your holdup. I'm sorry you're going through this! I'd recommend calling the SM Employee Health office and seeing what they recommend-the young lady at the front desk has been amazingly helpful to me in regards to health clearance, paperwork, parking, everything!

^ I agree. I've had to reschedule my new hire Occupational Health appointment a couple times now due to the unit specific classes I'm required to attend. They are nothing but friendly and helpful at that office.

Now I'm just waiting to schedule all the other hospital trainings and paperwork signing; just waiting for Nursing Resources to receive word about me from my hiring manager. :)

Hey thenursecalledmommy, I just got back from getting my fingerprints done at the HR. I talked to the nurse recruiter who also talked to the unit manager. I guess my manager just submitted all the paperwork today, I won't be part of this coming orientation but I guess I will be part of another orientation which will be happening soon. They just told me to sit and wait for a phone call from SM to get my physical done.

Thanks for all the advice everybody! I really appreciate it. I got a call and I guess everything got sorted out and I can attend the orientation on Monday! I'm super excited and slightly nervous at the same time. It's been a long road getting here for all of us I'm sure so congrats to everyone and I guess I will meet you all in a couple of days! Is there anyone on here who is going to be working on 6 tower telemetry as well??

Lingling, it's a long process huh! Thats the same boat I was in as well. I guess some of our paperwork just didn't get submitted on time! I'm glad there is another orientation that you can attend though! My greatest fear was that I was going to miss this one and then not be able to start at all! Good luck and enjoy some more "vacation" time before you start working!!
