UCLA New Grad Program 2010

Published

Has anyone heard anything back from the UCLA New Grad Summer Program for 2010? I applied in the beginning of February and have only had a phone interview so far, with no feedback yet. Any info or others' experience would be much appreciated, thank you!

i got a job offer from UCLA Santa Monica today!!!! I am beyond stoked when the manager offered the position on the spot =)its my first and only interview with the unit manager..skipped HR interview. i was on their waiting list since feb but i suddenly got a call and everything happened soo fast. the next thing i know... santa monica is my new destination. im all giddy thinking about it.

janbug and northbay, i'm guessing we'll be in the same cohort. =)

I've given up on UCLA. I interviewed with the unit manager almost three weeks ago and was told I would hear back within a week. I didn't. So I called her back asking for an update, she said I should hear something soon. Still haven't heard anything. Almost three weeks later, I've pretty much given up. I don't understand what the problem is. Regardless if I got the job or not, it's common courtesy to at least let me know so I'm not just left waiting - I feel it's extremely unprofessional.

I do have another job offer, but not in my "dream unit" which UCLA was, which I will be taking. It's UCLA's loss as far as I'm concerned.

^ I don't think NICU has made their decisions yet, and they're not starting the 2nd so still have time. Neither of my friends who interviewed have been notified, either. I'd wait a bit since it's your preferred unit...

Hey Peachsnapple!

Congratulations! Just wondering when did you meet with the unit manager and when did you get an offer? I'm just trying to figure out how many more positions are available based on what I was told when I had my interview. Thanks. Congrats and good luck!

Hi!

I met with the unit manager on 7/1 and was offered a position later during the day. I have no idea how many more positions are still available on the PICU since it's been awhile since I interviewed. She did say the start date is Aug 23 so you still have a month. Good luck to you!!

When do all you other Santa Monicans start? I start in a week! So nervous! But in a good way

I had an interview with the director of perinatal unit a few weeks ago and still haven't heard anything. Has anyone who interviewed for L&D been hired yet?

I have not heard back from my unit director yet. I will be calling her tomorrow and hopefully she'll be able to give me a definite date. When I went to HR last week, I was told the same thing you were.. that everyone except for ICU/CCU would be starting on Aug. 2nd. I was also told that after my health clearance was done, all that info would be emailed to the unit director and she would contact me regarding the next step in the process. I thought I was going to hear from her today, but since I didn't I'm going to give her a call tomorrow.

hey guys!

can you guys give me some insight on the TalentPlus behavioral interview??? I just got the verbal offer from the manager after the interview, and reassured me that the personality interview was something I don't have to worry about but needs to be done soon. any insight on the talentplus?

is it normal the talentplus interview comes after a verbal offer after the interview with the unit manager.???

Question for all those who got hired: did you guys all have your license already before getting hired? And also, why do you think you got hired over other applicants? I just wanted to find out my chances of even getting an interview if I apply for the program that starts next March (?) when I haven't graduated or taken the NCLEX yet (graduate in Dec). I am working as an LPN right now though, have a 3.95, BSN, & ACLS, will those help? Thanks for you help everyone and congrats on getting the jobs!
