I am graduating this December 2010 as an ADN. I want to make sure I apply for UCLA's new grad program the day the application opens. Is there anyone else with this plan? Does anyone have the link to where this application will appear? I have looked at many informational screens but have not found a link to an application. I figured it might be on the UCLA job search site, so I opened a profile there. I do not live in CA, I am out of state. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.
I got a call yesterday! They are still looking to fill some spots! Don't give up just yet. They said they will start calling again after the New Year.
Hi Misslilolady!
I was wondering if you would answer a few questions I had: where did you have your preceptorship? which units were your choices? and which unit did you get offered to interview at?
Thanks so much!
Questions for anyone who applied to the UCLA new grad program last year:
I am planning to apply for the new grad program this March and was hoping folks could give a few bits of information.
1. Is the entire application on-line or do you send in a physical application by snail mail? I want to have all my stuff in the correct form before the applications open.
2. Can you select where you do your interview if you are out-of-state? I am not in LA but I want to do a live interview in LA if possible. I am from LA so going there for a just a day would be fine with me. Did they just assign you a time and day? How far in advance?
3. Does the application information open on the same site that the info is now listed on (i.e., the "EVENTS" section of the Nursing at UCLA page?
Thanks. Any other info that you think would be helpful would be most appreciated. I am just trying to get the logistical details sorted out asap.
PS: I've posted this same message in a couple of threads about the residency program.
For the people that have already applied to UCLA New Grad Program..how did you attach your letters of recommendation that they ask for? Did you scan it and then send it as an attachment?? It is very nerve wracking not being able to speak to a person. I want to be prepared, but I am so lost with all of this online stuff..any help would be greatly appreciated. ty
Look at the one of the other threads about this topics (there are a couple). Someone put up a whole thing about the process. The whole application is apparently on-line so get all your documents on your computer. If you have physical letters of reference, then you should probably scan them.

These are the two threads with the most info about the process.
Good Luck. I think I am going to start a new thread for the March 7th application.
Thank you. I am new to this site and enclosing those links really helped. :-)
I'm getting nervous because the only thing I have found is on a calendar saying that there will be a New Grad Program, and it lists the requirements, but it does not show u anything about the application. Ive got the required paperwork and I am trying to figure out how to attach it if they ask it be emailed. If they ask for snail mail that I can do lol..It aslo says cover letter required but I cant find who to address it to and it says "No phone calls please".. I need to hire someone to help me just to figure out all these online applications! ughhh- I will look for your new thread thanks
@RNwith?'s:-) -when you're completing the online application, you will be taken to a page where you can upload your 1) cover letter 2) resume 3) LOR's and 4) transcript. You don't have to worry about mailing hardcopies of anything as UCLA completely uses their online application system. I would recommend ensuring that you have either .doc or .pdf files of each of the required components ready for upload. If you only have hardcopies, you can scan and save them as .pdf files and which should be ready for upload. Good luck!
To those who have applied -
I am applying to the new grad program which applications start on March 7. I was wondering if there is an application online right now that we can print and fill out, or if it only appears once the application period has opened?
Is this application long? I have heard to have all my materials read to copy and paste or attach into the application, but from past experience, doing the actual application has been tedious.
Where does the application appear? Currently, the only place you can find information about the new grad program is under the "events" website, but I have tried to click around and find the actual application, but have had no luck.
One final question, I just started an job application online that I found somewhere on the UCLA website. Is this needed, or do I just wait for the one that appears (??) on March 7?
Thanks!!
Some humor while we are all waiting patiently: Can you relate? New Grad RN Job Hunt (video, 2 min 25 sec)
i can so relate to this.. does this apply to all states?
Does anyone know specific requirements for the letters of recommendation?
I'm wondering if they need to be on school letterhead or not (sorry if this is an obvious question- this is my first new grad app!).
I'm having a few recc's emailed to me since the deadline is quickly approaching, and I'm worried that this will be an issue.
Thanks!

Hello my fellow nurses!
So I called and I was told that they are still making a few calls within this week or so and that she cannot guarantee that I would be getting a call, we just have to wait. Very vague but I guess there is still hope... I would advise that we put our eggs in other baskets (corny, yes i know haha).
But stay positive! Someone just has to hire us. We're nurses! We're loved!
