UCLA MSN/FNP/APN 2012

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Anybody waiting to hear news on MSN/FNP/APN admission for Fall 2012? I applied to the MSN-Nursing Admin program and I can't wait till the end of this month to hear the news!!! Gahhhh!!!!:uhoh21:

I hear you MarskinRN :scrying:.

This is torture. The decision status never changes either!!

All we can do is wait. I just don't get how some people have been accepted when they are reviewing applications still.

I agree this is torture. I spoke to someone who went through the whole waiting game situation 2 years ago. She said the issue for her was due to budget cuts. I guess they were trying to figure out how many they can accept. She said there was an admittance list and OFFICIAL admittance list for her class.

Future applicant here: Does UCLA's FNP program require RN experience before applying? If so, how many years are required? Or can we apply straight out of a BSN program? Thank you!

danceluver,

According to what I was told in an information session most of the applicants they accept have been working 8+ years. They recommend that you work as a nurse but it is not a prerequisite. On the application they do want you to submit your resume or CV.

If you want to apply give it a shot! I know someone who got in after only working 2 years as a nurse. I know a lot of it has to do with your personal statement.

Good luck!

I applied this year and have only worked for a year as an RN. I'm trying because for me, RN is a stepping stone, with my overall career goal being an FNP, and doing tons of research, and teaching, etc. It has a ton to do with your personal statement-they need to know you want this more than anything, and that overall you're capable, dedicated, and responsible. That you'll make UCLA look good in the long run. Financial ability is another one, because there is limited funding for graduate students. You need to be able to pay: whether that's through your own income, a scholarship, grant, or student loans...you have to be able to pay. Good luck and be prepared to wait a LONG time to hear ANYTHING. It's April 11th, and I only know of a few people that have gotten a definite answer at this time.

AND OMG I just checked thegradcafe.com to see if there are any MSN replies up: no. However, like 20 rejections from the school of Engineering are posted from today/yesterday. AHHHHHHH!!! How AWFUL. :bluecry1:

MarskinRN,

I was looking at all grad cafe earlier this month and there are some acceptance posts to UCLA. The two are to the FNP program and they got their acceptance letters Around March 24th.

P.S. this is torture......

Hi everyone, I've been creeping on this page for a while now and thought I would say hi and contribute. I have been playing the waiting game for a while now too. I called today and they said they were making final decisions for everyone in the FNP program today at noon-- just thought I would let you all know. Good luck to everyone! :)

Thanks for the info! Good luck everyone!

nursejackie828,

Thanks for the post. Hopefully we all hear wonderful news, soon. Good luck to everyone! Post when you hear news :)

So all grad cafe is not helping my morale. Someone posted that they got in and found out yesterday via Email. sniff sniff.

Still have not heard anything via email or snail mail. My status online never changes from "no decision has been made on your application." I'd like to take the time to say that though UCLA is my ultimate educational dream-it's a little rude to make us wait this long. By reading the posts on grad cafe, a lot of the other department/majors are saying the same-that it took way long to hear back. I applied December 1st, and it's like they didn't even start looking at applications until March 20th or something. Still hoping and praying. Nothing back from CalStateLA yet either-but don't expect to hear from them until the beginning of May.

Good luck everyone!! Thinking about you guys often!
