Hi- Is anyone applying to UCLA's MECN program for next fall?
I was accepted to WU - received word on 3/7. I am waiting on one other program as well before I make the decision of where to attend. I am not too optimistic for UCLA - which is fine - just nice to have folks to share the anxiety with while we all wait for every program to decide our fate. :***:
I was accepted to USD's MEPN program & found out 3/4 :) I was also offered an interview for CSUN's ABSN program but withdrew.
So incredibly thankful that I made it into a wonderful program already, but my life is seriously on hold until I find out about UCLA!!! I've been trying to convince myself that I'll be happy wherever I go as long as I finally know for sure I'll be a nurse someday! :)
@TLeeM Why do you have doubts for UCLA? You got one acceptance already :)
Annemarreb - the applicant pool was much larger at UCLA (I heard 600???) and they look at cumm GPA differently than some of the others. My last 60 GPA is a 4.0, my undergrad not so much LOL. UCLA puts more on the undergrad GPA and does not look at community college work (where I did most of my prereqs) as much as they do the 4 year schools. Also - not so sure my statement of purpose was the best it could have been. Also - I think I do well interviewing - not having that opportunity to express myself is a bummer. Lastly - this is one step in my end goal - I want to be an FNP, not CNL so I may not be the right fit for UCLA.
I also think GPA is what's going to kill me. Honestly, I had no idea what I was doing when I was an undergrad and didn't have a clue what I wanted to study. That could affect anyone's performance. But it's pretty clear that I gained way more motivation as years passed & after I graduated so I hope they take that into account.
And I totally know what you mean. I WISH UCLA had an interview! LORs & SOPs can only say so much about a person and UCLA puts so much weight on them. Communication is so important in nursing, how can they decide who gets to be the future in nursing without ever seeing some applicants face-to-face? But I really put my heart into my SOP, if I don't get in I don't know what else I could have done except maybe retake a couple classes
Glad I am not the only one feeling this way. I did forget about the LORs - maybe that will help me out! Other programs seem to get the fact that students are not always their best in the first few years of college. I guess we will know soon enough! Seriously - when are they posting decisions?????

Nah, most likely it will be the last week of March. If anything, rejections might be posted tomorrow, but since acceptances are sent by mail, people won't receive them until later.
