UCLA MECN Fall 2014?

Hi- Is anyone applying to UCLA's MECN program for next fall?

So late!! April??

For those who need to submit a deposit before then for other schools, I suggest you only do so if you really wouldn't mind going to that school. When you think about the application process, and the fees you had to pay to apply, would you want to do that all over again next year just because you decided not to put down a deposit???

Well, at least a lot of people will be declining their acceptances to UCLA because they will have been accepted elsewhere by that time. (I might be one of them.) Good news for those who are really banking on UCLA.

Has anyone registered for epidemiology at UCLA yet? I was hoping to hear something first before registering it but it would really suck for the class to become full

Is it summer registration already? UCLA is the only school I would need to take summer classes for. Both of the other programs I applied to have no other classes required (finished up in Fall).

I wouldn't be too worried about it being full now. It is still early. I would probably wait until you hear back from UCLA first. If you decide to not take it, they keep $150. That happened to me two years ago when I was still on the fence about nursing.

Alright - so since I feel I have little to lose, I emailed one of the coordinators (M). He was very quick to respond to my question about timing of decisions and whether we would have any issues getting into epidemiology this summer. Here are his two responses:

Applicants will find out anywhere between mid to end of April.

No issues, admits will get in without complication.

Bummer on the timing. Good deal on the Epi class.

so laaaaaateee. mid to late april...!! something must have happened recently for it to be pushed back a month.

the least they could do is send out an email to everyone letting them know it is for sure the end of april at most. Deposits are a tricky biz...I would put down a deposit and then wait to hear from UCLA... at least you guys who got in to other programs have a secure backup. the rest of us are in limbo. :banghead:
