UCF 2010-2011 accelerated nursing program

Published

I am applying and have requested all my transcripts, I did decent on the Teas test with an 86. Undergrad gpa 3.45, pre req 4.0

I went to the info session last month it was a bit of a pain :angryfire to sit through just to get the application passcode because of all the redundant you should do some research if your serious questions lol.

I am excited and hope to get in to move forward with my life goals of community health nursing.

I am also applying to UNF's program too. Their website is really detailed with everything I ever wanted to know. One of the few schools that have their stuff together.

Specializes in ICU.
I know. It makes me so nervous. I hate the thought of waiting until the last second to get financial aid.

It really makes a difference. I was last mintue with deciding to attend USF over the university I was at and boy the grants were slim. The next year I got a lot of grants. There was no difference in income just the timely fashion of things.

Have y'all received the email from the lady yet about the nursing orientation, our uniforms, and nursing packages that she was talking about at the UCF orientation? I know she said she would be sending it, and that we needed to givee her our knightsmail email for the listserve, but I STILL can't get an email address! The service desk said I had to wait until the first day of class to be able to sign up for knightsmail account. Is anyone else having this problem?

I was able to sign up for my knightsmail account right after getting accepted to the undergraduate university. Although I did not actually do it until I was accepted to the ABSN program. Looks like we are all having our problems getting ready for this program. My background check is still pending (day 8 now), I called but was given the run around. Not sure what is going on there. Also, like everyone else I am having issues with financial aid. What a headache.... Don't worry though we will all be a lot less stressed out starting May 17th. :)

I made an account last month.

Then I didn't set a secondary email and forgot my darn password and the service desk would not reset it. Told me I had to wait. Tried to email Microsoft that did not work. A few days later I was allowed to log into it like the first time with a dummy password through the myucf. Then there was some kind of issue and the PW would not work until yesterday :uhoh3:.

When you log into myUCF click Knights email, should prompt the first time user thing and follow the instructions.

UCFRN2010 - Mine is still pending too. They haven't been able to reach my employer yet. And my finger printing is not until tomorrow. I asked someone if we would be penalized for having things pending by the 9th and she said as long as we have done everything it is fine...Still makes me nervous though. Would hate to be kicked-out for something like that after going through this whole process!

Specializes in Peds, Med-Surg, Disaster Nsg, Parish Nsg.

congratulations to all who have been accepted and good luck to those still waiting to hear.

i need to give you a friendly reminder about the terms of service regarding names. a few posts have been edited to comply with the terms of service. per the terms of service of this site, please do not post names, initials, or contact information of professors or other school officials on the public board. it is better to communicate this type of information via the private message system.

as stated in the terms of service:

while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

the best to all of you! thank you for your cooperation.

For those struggling with finances, I heard that ORMC hire nursing students as techs and participate in a tuition reimbursement plan. Don't all rush at once; but they take third and fourth year nursing students (I think we qualify as 3rd year).

in regards to ormcs tuition reimbursement it’s not as easy as one would think... i work at ormc now and researched it before deciding not to work while in school. you have to work here a minimum of six months before you qualify for the benefit then you have to work a minimum of 24 hours a week and maintain that while your taking classes. they reimburse you after you finish the classes and you have to agree to work at orlando health for a year after they give you the money. they do not fully cover the cost, they give you up to 3500 a year depending on your status as full time, full time variable, or part time. if you didn’t have to sign a contract and agree to work here i would consider it but i'm not sure i want to stay in orlando and seeing as the program is really intense i'm not sure i could handle working and school at the same time!

Hey....i am trying to pay for this all out of pocket as well...that would be a no to the parents and a no to the spouse too....im applying for everything financial aid i can find but im pretty much not sure what to do about that part of it all too...

I guess everyone got the email today about the supplies and such that we will need for the program. Does anyone know if the computer is something we have to purchase from the college? Or is our own computer fine?

No, that is just a quote on how much it may cost for you to get your own computer. It is my understanding that we will be writing a lot of papers for these courses, and they recommend that you have access to your own personal computer rather than relying on utilizing the universities computer lab. So if you have your own personal computer that will work fine and you don't have to worry about that cost.

Just an FYI for everyone...I have a friend who went through the nursing program at another school and she highly recommended getting the nursing pack that includes the stethoscope. She said the brand they give you is the best and it is the cheapest deal to buy it with the pack. :)
