UC Davis RN residency program Summer/Fall 2016

I wanted to start a thread on the upcoming residency program for UC Davis for Summer/Fall 2016!

Who has applied so far? What units?

Wanted to keep each other updated if we hear anything. :)

I said on the app that I wanted L&D (or postpartum)

Interviews for the NICU are next week for all of you like me that have to buy a last minute flight.

I got a call for labor and delivery today! The nurse manager said that they're trying to get everyone for interviews this week because the start date is in a month. Was hoping if anyone had any tips to prepare myself for the interview.

Hi lakota93,

I am in the same boat as you with l&d/pp and graduated last week. Since we'll only be considered for the Oct cohort they might not interview potential Oct. candidates until Aug/Sept. :/ that's what the previous year threads have seemed like! Waiting game.....

I called UC Davis today and they said that the last day for departments to call for the JUNE cohort is NEXT FRIDAY.

So if you don't recieve a call by next friday, anticipate to possibly recieve a call anywhere from end of July-2nd week of October for the Fall cohort. If you graduated recently, more than likely, you'll be placed in the October cohort. However, some units may choose to interview recently graduated applicants in June (just the unit preference).

i interviewed in December for a med-surg position, I'm not sure how it will compare for L&D but basically it was a one on one interview with the nurse manager and she had a list of about 10-15 behavioral questions which were the typical "tell me of a time when you had conflict with a coworker" or "how do you deal with the needs of patients that are non verbal" "tell me a time when you failed"...those are the only ones I remember. I had one situation question where she gave me a patient's vitals, his situation & she asked me what was my next action. Unfortunately I wasn't offered a position but I hope this helps!
