Hello everyone!
I did not see a thread for UC Davis MEPN 2020 start so I thought I would start this since applications open up next week ? has anyone written a personal statement? I can't find any specific guidelines for what to include

So I think I'm going to use the same general ideas but the grad app is 4000 characters and nursingCAS was 5000 so we're going to have to cut a significant amount. But overall the prompts are fairly similar so as long as we're answering that I think it's fine. Plus they told us we could use it so I don't see that being bad otherwise they wouldn't suggest it. At least I hope lol
@hdavis2200 did you repeat a lot of the nursingCAS experiences on your CV for the supplemental portion? I guess I'm unsure of how detailed to make it or if they will be reading our nursingCAS essay alongside the UCD graduate admissions one. Thanks!

This is not required for the nursing school. If you read the packet of instructions for the second round application it will explain this is for other graduate programs.
Where did you guys see the part about not writing about faculty? The packet I have says to do it. Can anyone help me out? ?
@livewellmm I repeated the nursing CAS experiences on my CV and tailored it to be about graduate education (more emphasis on research/academic accomplishments, leadership). They will not likely read the NursingCAS essay, just the two statements that you submit on the grad app. That is why you can reuse your personal statement. I changed a paragraph in mine but I don't think it's necessary.
@hockeystic I personally did not change my original statement to include specific faculty (usually PhD programs require a specific mentor and the grad app is for all graduate programs so that is why it's included) but if you feel inclined the nursing faculty have bios on the website. Hope that helps!
I am working on condensing my goal statement. This is incredibly difficult. @Kit_Kat_G Did you submit your application?

I'm still wrapping them up! I hate writing about myself lol. How is it coming along for you?

Right? I thought I would just reuse my first essay but yesterday I decided to start over and write two new ones! It's driving me a bit crazy

I submitted mine, it was hard but I basically had to take out a lot of stuff from my original essay and then create a new diversity statement. Hope everyone is doing well!
