UBC Nursing - September 2013

Published

Hey Everyone!

I'm hoping to apply for UBC nursing 2013, but I am a little worried as I haven't volunteered for 2 years. My question is, if I get back into volunteering this summer will my chances of being accepted be higher?

Thank you!

Does anyone understand how they rank supplementals ? I'm confused I got a 3 out of 4 I am assuming one is the highest score that you can get.

For those who got a 1 can you please give us some insight on your supplemental.

Thanks for the motivation ehlehnah

Do you plan on staying in Vancouver? I'm so envious you're there to begin with! :o

I am too!! I want to go so bad! Now I have no reason to :(

I am really sad. I had high hopes to get in and had many things planned out. Now everything is so blurred :'(

My husband and I moved here a couple of weeks ago because of his job . I got into LACC and ELAC RN program starting this Fall 2013 but now that I am here I can't even think about moving back to LA Vancouver is such an awesome place! besides I really wanted to go straight into a BSN program.

ekkk im confused .......

I hope you get in to those other schools you applied to ! Im sure you will!

Does Canada have any second degree programs in Nursing? In the states we have a lot but the requirements are just that you need a Bachelor's degree in any field (you need some prerequisites for nursing school) and taken the TEAS test or HESI. It's getting way more competitive getting into your first bachelor's in nursing than going in as a second degree students. But it'll definitely get more and more impacted in the next few years.

Girl, I'd be doing that! Haha. I have to move for nursing school an hour away if I get into this one. Or commute, if I really want to deal with the awful drive on the 15 in the morning.

yeah I hate how impacted the schools are now.. good luck to you!! which school did you apply to?

No, I haven't heard anything like that, though you might be in a better position if you already have a degree

I'd look into a degree that you can apply with nursing, no shame graduating in another degree. I made plenty of mistakes in my undergraduate years at my alma mater. I could have gotten into the nursing school at my university at the time when they were not taking any transfers but I chickened out because I did not think I could get in. Well, come to find out, my friends got in with similar grades...sigh. Don't let this deter you!

CSU San Marcos and GCC. I haven't looked into any other nursing schools outside of California because they ask for prerequisites that I wasn't able to take unless I did my undergraduate in Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry. Its like huh why are you asking me these classes? Haha.

Hey everyone,

I got rejected today as well :p

but I know I'll try harder next year! Congratulations to all of you who got accepted this year (please help those who got rejected for next year...:( I'm getting even more nervous for next year)

anyways

see you within 2 years!!!

Cheers

They're not exactly second degree programs (they only need 2 years of an undergraduate degree, much like UBC's program) but here's a link to all of the accelerated nursing programs in Canada:

Fast Track/Accelerated BACC Programs: Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing / Association canadienne des écoles de sciences infirmières (CASN / ACESI)
