UBC Nursing - September 2013

Hey Everyone!

I'm hoping to apply for UBC nursing 2013, but I am a little worried as I haven't volunteered for 2 years. My question is, if I get back into volunteering this summer will my chances of being accepted be higher?

Thank you!

I was #11 on the waitlist, I just accepted my offer!! Good luck to those who are still waiting!

I am from Edmonton and am going to be moving to Vancouver for the program.. is anyone or does anyone know of anyone that is looking for a roommate??

Congratulations, that's fantastic! You must be so excited :) May I ask if you received the offer the day you accepted? As for looking for a roommate, try asking others in the Facebook group - there may be someone in a similar situation! :)

Yep... as soon as I found out that I had an offer for admission I sent in the acceptance letter.. which was yesterday,(but they gave me until June 28th to decide... I just already knew my answer!). I'm excited! Good luck! There are still 2 months until school starts... I hope you get in too... it sucks waiting!!

Hey Elissa and nme1990!

I was accepted to the U of T and UBC programs in late April. It's so hard to choose between the two. I was just wondering if either of you could give me some input? I know that the UofT program is more research-based than the UBC program is. From what I heard, the UBC program also has more clinical hours. I was looking at the curriculum for U of T and it covers basic microbiology, which I have taken previously in my undergrad at UBC, so I'm not too sure if it'd be worth it to go through courses I've taken already. That being said, I am really having trouble choosing between the two! They are both amazing schools!

Any input would be appreciated! Thanks :)

I haven't heard that great of things of the UBC program- it's tailored to going into research or med school ( so I hear) more theory based rather than clinical so I guess it depends one what you want to do after school

Hey guys!

Anyone know how many times you can apply to the program? Say if you get rejected can you keep trying?

Thanks!

From what I know, I believe you can apply as many times as you like! Just to be sure, you should consider emailing the Admissions Office to ask them. I know that one of my classmates in my cohort had applied 4 times before they were accepted! But once they were accepted, they were kicking MAJOR BUTT in the program :) - I never would have even guessed they had to apply 4 times before being accepted!

BEST OF LUCK to all those applying and those still waitlisted! I have no idea how the waitlist movement looks like right now, but I'm still hoping the VERY BEST FOR YOU GUYS!!! :D I'm looking forward to meeting you out in the hospitals, my future nursing colleagues! :)
