UBC Nursing - September 2013

Hey Everyone!

I'm hoping to apply for UBC nursing 2013, but I am a little worried as I haven't volunteered for 2 years. My question is, if I get back into volunteering this summer will my chances of being accepted be higher?

I wonder if its also depended on when one submits the supplemental? I read somewhere that that will affect when you'll receive the invite? Anyone know?

I think they send out invites based on ranking orders though..

It seems like they are sending fewer invitations now. Still waiting :(

Hmmm, let's try to figure this out. If they are sending out invites based on ranking, then the people who are left, assuming your supplemental apps weren't terrible (which I'm sure they weren't!), should have a lower GPA compared to the people who have already been invited. I know mine is on the lower side of the 3's, which would make sense with this theory. How about those of you who are also still waiting? Does anyone have a really high GPA and a good supplemental? Cause that wouldn't make sense if they are going by rank!

hi all!

I've been following this thread for a little bit and thought I could help answer some questions. I'm a fourth year nutritional sciences student at UBC (I transferred to UBC after my third year) and received my interview invite on mar 26th. I submitted my supplemental on Jan 30th and don't have a super high gpa, but I do have a lot of work experience (worked with an RN at a medical clinic, lots of volunteering, etc). As for the invites, they usually send them all out, then if they don't get a reply they pass the invite onto the next person on the list.

My GPA was 3.75 and I have had experience volunteering in the hospital alongside nurses, and I am currently volunteering in a long-term care facility, working with patients who have dementia and alzheimer's. In total, I have around 5 years of volunteer experience in health care, as well as being involved with other clubs and activities. I am in my third year at UBC and I am studying biology. I still haven't received an invite :(
