Hi Everyone!
I've been searching for a thread for applicants to UBC's BScN program for September 2017, but I haven't found one. Please feel free to point me in the direction of an existing thread, or add to this one! I'm applying to UBC, U of T, and UWO for September, but UBC is definitely my first choice. Looking forward to hearing from everyone!
:)
@EtherealRaingun I think the odds are very good! Last year, #19 got an offer on either June 20th or 21st, and I know of two people on this forum who received acceptances but are choosing other schools!
Thank you so much for the information! I seriously appreciate all the comments and supports!!! I actually didn't expect myself to be on the reserve list. I thought it was going to be either accepted or rejected so reserve list kind of made me so confused at this point lol.
I also received my rejection letter this morning. Looking at the breakdown I was a little surprised since my supplemental and casper were in the top 25%. What brought me down was the admission average which was in the bottom 25% sadly. I guess the GPAs must have been pretty competitive.. Congrats to everyone who got in this year!
That frightens me a bit. My casper was top 25% too. I was hoping to boost my supplemental for next year, but I'm not sure what GPA I would need to get me out of the bottom 25%!
I wonder if all who are accepted ranked in the top 25% for all 3 categories? But then I did recall reading about some successful applicants with GPA's similar to mine, so here's to hoping I still have a chance next year.

Meowth, the admissions adviser can answer that type of question for you, so make sure you get in touch with them sometime in the summer. IIRC I think I was told I'd have to take at least 5 classes and get A's in them to make any dent in my GPA in the hopes of getting into the top 50%. That wasn't going to be easily accomplished in 3 months. So I didn't attempt to change that.
I honestly don't think all who were accepted got in the top 25% for all categories. My GPA was a 3.3 which is nothing amazing. I think it was my supplemental and CASPER that got me into the program. I have a feeling they do it on a points basis ie. allocate a certain number of points for each category depending on criteria. The unfortunate part is that we are kept in the dark with how many points, how much the casper, supplemental and gpa are worth, etc.
Hey guys, I will be signing up to take BIOL 235 (Physiology and Anatomy) from Athabasca. However, I am only able to start this course on June 1st. I am wondering, if anyone has taken this course, would it be possible to finish the course before the end of the year (so sometime in December)?
Also, the UBC application deadline is usually early December, so will I be put at a disadvantage if this course is not finished by the deadline? Thanks!
I started oct 1. But!! The opening is for submitting stuff, you will have access to the text as soon as you register (so you can get a head start). I found it pretty quick, I had taken a few anatomy course prior to, they just weren't transferable.
also, you only have to show that it's in progress by the December deadline, the final transcript deadline is June 15.
