UBC BSN September 2017

Published

Hi Everyone!

I've been searching for a thread for applicants to UBC's BScN program for September 2017, but I haven't found one. Please feel free to point me in the direction of an existing thread, or add to this one! I'm applying to UBC, U of T, and UWO for September, but UBC is definitely my first choice. Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

congrats! feel free to add me (katie hilton) on FB and ill add you to our group :)

Hi everyone! I've been a lurker on allnurses for years (mostly on the UBC threads). I'm happy to say I got in this year! This was my third time applying. I already attend UBC as a Psychology student so it's been my goal to do Nursing here too.

I have a few years of volunteer experience in the hospital, as well as some leadership experience in retail, etc. I really think the CASPer helped me out this year, because my GPA did not go up too much from last year.

Congrats to everyone else who has been accepted; see you in September! And to those of you who are waitlisted or rejected, I hope that you get in to another school of your choice or that you try again next year! Third time really is the charm and I can say that hard work and determination pays off!

To all who didn't make it in, you got a year to re-evaluate and re-apply again! To those with other acceptances, sad we didn't get to meet but it was good to support each other here! As for all of you that were accepted, CONGRATS and I will see you there because i got my ACCEPTANCE letter too!!!

Sorry, was MIA with chores all day! I am really excited and can finally relax knowing what is happening in the future!

YAY! Congrats! :)

To those who did not receive acceptances this time around, please do not give up hope. I look forward to seeing all of you when you begin your journey with UBC in 2018! And to those who received acceptances, I look forward to meeting you in August! Please join the Facebook group so we can connect before the start of first semester. :) UBC BSN Cohort 2017-2019.

Hi! I've applied this year to the UBC bsn program and have been put on the waitlist. I'm currently number 23. Does anyone know the likelihood of getting in off the waitlist? I just want to know what my chances are. Reading threads from previous years the odds seem high as they only take as many people on the reserve list as they think will decline offers but it's still so daunting!

help!!

I think it's very variable you may have no one reject or you might have a lot. Hard to estimate. I'm number 24 on the reserve list, and I'm really not sure whether or not expect an acceptance. However, I'm staying hopeful. Looking at last years thread it looks like the 19th/20th person on the list got in. Keeping positive !!!

I also received my rejection letter this morning. Looking at the breakdown I was a little surprised since my supplemental and casper were in the top 25%. What brought me down was the admission average which was in the bottom 25% sadly. I guess the GPAs must have been pretty competitive.. Congrats to everyone who got in this year!

I guess now we wait! by reading previous threads it seems as if quite a few get in off the waitlist. I guess we'll see! If anyone has any insight please let me know :)

Hey guys, been a longtime lurker on this site. Looks like a lot of you are getting acceptances congrats! I'm sorry if this is too personal, but if you don't mind me asking what was your last year's average? Were you accepted? And what percentile were you placed in?

(I believe UBC just looks at last year's marks... or last 5 FCEs? Sorry, not really sure what "30" credits means!)

I don't know how good or terrible an idea this is; but would anyone who didn't get accepted like to keep in touch? Maybe we could give each other ideas how to improve our chances, share info and just generally support one another. If anyone's interested, feel free to pm me.

So I found this from 2014 thread. User STAR LITE has looked it for other applicants so I just copy and pasted what he/she found. Hopefully it helps some people on the reserve list. Also, as I was looking 2014 thread, I found that a user whose number 20 got an offer. So we should wait and hope for the positive news! I love how everyone is very supportive here. Let's continue to think positively!!

Hello fellow wait listers. I meticulously looked through UBC's forum for the past years and I came up with the following stats for us:

In 2009: 17 people got off the wait list

In 2010: 15 people got off the wait list

In 2011: 20 people got off the wait list

In 2012: Didn't get a final number, but #13 got off the wait list on June 21st

In 2013: 17 people people got off the wait list.

So, I guess there is hope after all for us. This summer will be a good chance to practice patience and non-attachment. As soon as anybody hears of movement please let us know. -from https://allnurses.com/canada-nursing-programs/ubc-september-2014-883518-page19.html)
