Hey @triNurse2017, I emailed admissions with the same question back when I was applying and they were very vague, basically just repeating what it already stated on their website. From what I understood, they will only look at courses completed as part of your undergrad, so anything you do after will not improve your admission GPA sadly.

Hey @futurenurse612! I also received the same offer. I'm currently still completing my anat/physiol pre-requisite - in my situation I believe it means that I'm accepted pending timely completion of the course (by Jun 30). Do you have any outstanding requirements?

Nipissing has started sending out offers! My status on WebAdvisor changed this morning to "offered conditional admission". No email yet and nothing on OUAC thought. Exciting! Hope everyone hears good news soon :)

I also received my rejection letter this morning. Looking at the breakdown I was a little surprised since my supplemental and casper were in the top 25%. What brought me down was the admission average which was in the bottom 25% sadly. I guess the GPAs must have been pretty competitive.. Congrats to everyone who got in this year!

Yes, I echo that. My definition was just a few sentences and relatively straight forward - there's not much you can change about a definition I suppose. Regarding the latter part, I took a more personal approach. Because the program is so self directed, I thought it would be hard to generalize experiences so I'm sticking to what applies to my hypothetical experience for the most part. I believe there will be a lot of different answers, because the question is so broad. Hopefully this way we can all project our diverse personalities and ways of thinking. Also, thanks for the outfit affirmation @yashi10!

How is everyone preparing for the Nipissing interview? At the beginning I was really confused by the 3 minute blurb we have to give but slowly with lots of research I am feeling more confident about it. I anticipate the rest of the questions to be pretty straight forward. Also what is everyone wearing? I'm opting for black slacks, simple flats and a button down shirt, tucked in with a skinny belt. Wondering what your opinions are. Also any opinions on a simple statement-ish necklace? I'm thinking it may be too much for a professional interview.

Reading threads from previous years, I understand that it's a mix of the typical questions (e.g. why do you want to be a nurse, why Nipissing) and then a lot of questions on how you deal with challenges. I'm more concerned myself about the blurb they ask us to give for 3 minutes. At the beginning I just stared at the question for a few days, completely lost, but now I'm starting to piece some things together. Does anyone else feel the same way? How are you preparing for is?

Did anyone else receive an odd email from the Dean of the school of nursing at Trent? It seemed as if it was a follow up to an acceptance, even though I haven't heard back from Trent at all... Made my heart skip a beat...

Update: I have also received an interview from Nipissing! The online portal is still displaying the CASPer results as not received but it seems that's just the university not having updated it. Good luck everyone else, hope you all hear back soon! :)

Thanks for starting this thread, it's a great idea to have a thread for Nipissing and people who are specifically interested in the program as it is quite unique :) I'm relatively new to this site so just discovering how things work. I come from UBC with a double major in Biology and Psychology. I graduated a few years ago and ever since I've been working at the university. I also volunteered with the largest health authority here in Vancouver for quite some time as well as did a fair amount of philanthropy and fundraising during my undergrad. I'm quite nervous about hearing back from Nipissing as they are my first choice and I was very intrigued by their self directed study model. I read the article they published on their program and it really spiked my interest, making Nipissing my first choice. An added bonus is that the program is in downtown Toronto and they seem to have a strong partnership with the local health authorities. I truly believe that nursing education where you learn on the job rather than theoretically in a classroom setting is what many nursing programs should be aiming towards. My GPA for admission is in the high 70s which I know must be on the lower end. I have a lot of work experience in health care so I'm hoping that this will make my application stand out, but I'm not sure how they weigh each component of the application. I wrote the CASPer back in January but my results are still not showing up on Web Advisor. I'm almost checking every day now. I found that I wasn't able to express everything I wanted to say due to such a short time limit and I would have definitely done better in real life. Also I couldn't stop thinking about that the test wanted me to answer which may have impacted some answers to be more diplomatic than what I may have done in real life. Anyway, I have spoken to admissions and they confirmed that there was a delay with getting the CASPer results - all applicants should be notified regarding interviews by end of March. I also contacted CASPer and they said that Nipissing "is on a different distribution list" but I'm not sure what that meant exactly. All other schools I applied to have received my results. Does anyone know if Nipissing will be flexible with the interview schedule? Since it's different than the originally stated dates, will they be understanding that not everyone has planned for the interviews later in the month? I've read some previous threads and some applicants mentioned how strict the program was in their policies. Anyone else experiencing this extra bit of stress and uncertainty?

Hi there @tesla20! I'm also taking BIOL 235 at Athabasca and I feel like I'm in the same boat as you. I work full time and use my evenings to study for the course. It can feel very overwhelming sometimes just trying to get everything in by May. I actually just wrote the midterm this past weekend - I was terrified that I was going to fail because of how much details there is to learn in the nervous system related chapters. Reassuringly the midterm covered the very basics of each chapter and I got an 82%. From what you're saying it seems like you've done quite some practice (I read the chapters, take notes and do about 20 questions / objective on ORION) so I'm sure you'll do much better than you think!
