UBC BSN September 2017

Published

Hi Everyone!

I've been searching for a thread for applicants to UBC's BScN program for September 2017, but I haven't found one. Please feel free to point me in the direction of an existing thread, or add to this one! I'm applying to UBC, U of T, and UWO for September, but UBC is definitely my first choice. Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

:)

So sorry to everyone that didn't get in. Chin up and the next cycle is just around the corner. I just received my acceptance letter! I'm still waiting to hear back from another program before I make my final decision though. Best of luck to everyone!

Got my acceptance letter! It took me two tries to get in and honestly the past year went by so fast. I remember last year getting my rejection letter I was so crushed. But don't give up hope! Take this year to better prepare yourself for nursing, travel, save money. Good luck to everyone! Can't wait to meet you all in September.

Just got an acceptance. Super excited and anxious at the same time. Congrats to everyone else who got in, see you in September:)

We should make a Facebook group so we can connect!

I'm reserve list number 24... so I'm nervous about the long wait that continues. Congrats to those who were accepted!

Totally agree - I got my acceptance letter as well! Does anyone want to volunteer to be an admin for the group? I still have one exam to study for... Stuck in a library right now.

Hey everyone,

I just got my rejection letter too. I knew casper borked me over.

My admission rank was 3 (top 75%). Same as last year.

My supplemental rank was 1 (top 25%). Last year it was 2 (top 50%)

My casper rank was 4 (bottom 25%).

I knew how I should've answered but over thought it all. My nervousness didn't help either. Sometimes when I want something too much I stumble over myself.

Just the icing on the cake that is 2017. I got hit by a pickup truck while walking across Steeles avenue in the first week of Feburary, 2 - 3 weeks from my Casper test date. I had the pedestrian right-of-way. Landed 5 feet from the vehicle; no fractures or broken bones but a ton of muscular swelling. Because my injuries weren't traumatic enough, the driver doesn't have to pay for my physiotherapy, my insurance does.

I considered asking UBC for some sort of reprieve or alternate date but their email about Casper said no excuses or alternate dates will be entertained / provided. So I didn't bother to even inform them nor ask.

I hope next year they don't pull some new fancy evaluation thing again. Either repeat the online interview or repeat casper - even with all its flaws at least this time I'll know what to expect.

Everyone who got rejection letters, I know its hard - its damn hard; but try not to make the same mistake I made last year and mope around for a few weeks - or months. Keep yourself busy. Start planning alternatives, etc...

For me, I'll try again next year. Third time's the charm! - So they say. In all honesty, UBC is really the only school that I want to go to - alot of this is based on the fact that unlike other schools, I felt they treated me with a bit of dignity even in rejecting me by at least giving me feed back on how I did, and they were the only school to offer the chance to speak to an admissions adviser. I felt that as an institution, the Nursing School at UBC at least tried to embody some of the principles that Nursing schools are supposed to teach future Nurses. Other schools just told me flat out - NO. Well in polite language.

I'm getting old and honestly I don't know how practical it is for me to keep trying. Never the less, I'm going to try one more time.

I just received my acceptance letter too!

Congrats tdmah and to everyone who got accepted! Happy studying!
