UBC BSN September 2017

Published

Hi Everyone!

I've been searching for a thread for applicants to UBC's BScN program for September 2017, but I haven't found one. Please feel free to point me in the direction of an existing thread, or add to this one! I'm applying to UBC, U of T, and UWO for September, but UBC is definitely my first choice. Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

:)

even though I get more anxious and stressed with each day... I just keep remembering... 3 more days! in 3 more days we will all know and all of this unknowing will be history :) and we can start to plan our lives regardless of what he hear from UBC. we will finally know, and I take comfort and excitment in that.

when did your friend recieve this notice? I am sorry to hear that for your friend. just wondering if this was this week or months ago if she didnt meet criteria

Oh no! I was under the impression that acceptance letters were sent out first then wait list and rejections. Lately I have found myself referring back to my rejection letter a few times from last year(not so great for morale huh?) ... not sure why I keep doing this. The anticipation is killing me :'( !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So last year I applied with a 75% average and placed in the bottom 25% of applicants for GPA but my supplemental was in the top 25% of applicants. I still got an interview but I guess my interview wasn't strong enough because I got rejected. I didn't really know what I did wrong and I will never know. This year I applied with an 80% average and used the same supplemental and felt my CASPER was mediocre. I guess what I'm trying to say is that grades are not everything. UBC seems to take a wide range of people with many different backgrounds and GPA. Don't feel bad if your GPA is not that strong because mine wasn't last year and I still got an interview!

I think casper is the real wild card. I wish we got our marks back so we could try to gage our chances ourselves. I feel good about my grades and supplemental, especially because UBC takes such a wide range of individuals, but not great about casper...but I dont know about casper, it could had been fine too. When Casper was over, I felt like the whole thing was such a scramble, I dont know if it went good or bad, or what they were looking for. if I at least got those marks I think it would had also helped with the anxiety waiting for UBC because I could feel good or bad about my chances depending on casper.

Hey Everyone,

I haven't posted here yet but I just wanted to mention that my roommate's friend has already received a rejection notice for UBC Nursing. Maybe no news yet is good news?

Congrats to everyone who got in elsewhere! @esm13 when did your firend get the rejection letter? do you know the date? fingers crossed no news is good news.

I also would like to congratulate everyone who got accepted in other schools!!

Hey guys, I'm SOOOO jealous of everyone getting in right now! I'm from Toronto and UBC is my second choice! I'm wondering, what do you think my chances are of getting in? My cumulative GPA is about a 3.5 and my GPA in my final year is a 3.6. My last year average is about an 82% (higher than my GPA). My overall average is about an 80%. I have worked at SickKids in Toronto for nearly 3 years in 4 different departments / units. I worked on 3 research projects at SickKids. I worked on 2 infectious disease research projects at Health Canada, as well. I was also on the executive team for various health science related organizations at University of Toronto (my undergrad school). The thing that worries me the most is my GPA. It seems quite low compared to other applicants. Thanks... just looking for some opinions! I'm so scared!

@pianoplaya94 your background and work experience seem quite strong. your GPA and mine are the same. I would say you are a strong applicant. The good thing is with UBC GPA is not everything. Don't worry you can't change anything what will be will be.

For those of you who applied last year how did your rejection letter start? I have seen a an acceptance letter that my friend got a few years ago. so I know they start with CONGRATULATIONS. just trying to prepare myself.

well... you would think I had it memorized word for word after the number of times I keep going back to it haha. It goes...

"Following the interview process, your application for entry into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program at the UBC School of Nursing has been evaluated, and I regret to inform you..."

@hopingforthebest THANK YOU. I sincerely hope you get in this year! I have been a rack of nerves the last few days.I have received a few rejections in the last two weeks and it has been really tough.

Anyone else just a complete bundle of nerves today?!
