UBC BSN September 2015 Applicants

Published

Alright who's applying to the UBC Vancouver BSN September 2015 intake? I'm a second year UBC science student who's applying :) Let's all support and communicate with each other for registration help and processing !

I'm almost done my A&P. Last class is on the 10th here at UBCO. :)

I agree with you about being nervous.. the interview scares me to death.

There hasnt been a change online for my status either, just the email confirmation. It kinda looks as though they are sending the emails out by interview date? I was told that after all the offers had gone out they would send your rank or grade for your application. They also said they go down a list of ranking, and as people decline their offers they keep going down the list.

Does anyone have any pointers who have had interviews before? I was the PDF they sent out which is the CRNBC skills and abilities, and my sister who has had the interviews a few years back said the best thing is to look over what they look for in a nurse, and try to be on point with that, but obviously organically. Its weird I feel more nervous now that I have an interview, probably because I know I am up against myself at this point!

is anyone finishing Human anatomy & phys right now?

ashlee88 I did my A&P through UBCO but my last class was completed in 2008, and apparently it is considered expired for entry into the nursing program, so I am working on completing it again through athabasca. I am frustrated with UBC because I spoke to someone over the phone and they advised it was fine, then a couple weeks back I was advised via email that they were considered expired...lovely!

So my next 2 months is basically re-taking the class via distance...compounded with the stress of the interviews!

Good luck to everyone though!

Yikes Bee_Van5 that's no fun at all. But re-taking the A&P should be a breeze... just a lot of work. Try not to stress too much!

Does anyone know what type of dress is appropriate for the interview?

Hi everyone! I am a current U of T second degree nursing student but I applied and was accepted to UBC last year. I remember how anxious I was prior to my UBC interview so I thought I would pass on some tips!

1. in regards to dress everyone was in business casual at the interview, so dress pants and a blouse or button up. Some people wore blazers. I would say keep it simple and wear what makes you feel comfortable. The interviewers for the MMI wore similar business casual clothing and one interviewer was wearing a suit but other than that it was pretty casual.

2. For your interview review the sample MMI question they listed on their Interview Invite. It is great example of the types of questions that they ask.

3. Have fun! I know it's so much easier to say that than to do it but the interviewers are very nice and open. Perhaps, think of each station as an opportunity to have a conversation. Also, each station is a fresh start so if you feel like you didn't do well on one station don't get distracted by it just take a deep breath and move on to the next station with blank slate.

I hope that helps a bit! Good luck everyone! feel free to message me if you have any questions!

Has anyone got an interview invitation since Friday (or a rejection letter for that matter?) I hope there is still hope left for those of us still waiting to hear back!

Based on last year's thread, I'd say the second set of offers will start coming out on Wednesday (April 1st). Especially since the initial offers sent had a response deadline of March 31st. Don't lose hope yet! I know lots of people who got their invitations after the 1st last year! Either way, hopefully we'll all know by the end of this week.

The interview offer emails asked us to confirm that we could attend the interviews by today (march 30th), so I'm assuming they're waiting to see how many people turn down the interviews/don't respond and then they'll fill up the empty spots!

Hey everybody!

As are many of you, I am currently in the process of completing my A&P courses.

I was wondering if any of you know what the minimum grade required for these courses is?

I'm doing fine so far, but this determines how much effort I put into my final exams...

Yay!!! I got an interview!!!!

Were my grades/supplemental application used to get me into the interview stage.. and the final acceptance offer will be based on my interview?

OR does the final acceptance offer still take into consideration my grades/supplemental application.

I know this is a long shot, but is there anyone else from Ottawa who would like to practice interviews?
