Hey everyone! I'm currently a student at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. I graduate this December and I'll be applying to UAB's AMNP program this Fall for the Spring 2017 class! I hope this group/thread can be used to help each other out through the application process. Also, to anyone currently in the AMNP program, please don't hesitate to drop in and share your application experience! :)
Prerequisites: ~3.8 (I did a rough estimate, not sure of the exact number)
Undergrad: 3.6
Graduate: 3.9
I just squeaked by with the A&P being in the last 7 years I took physiology Fall 2010 and anatomy Fall 2011. That seems like forever ago!! I took the GRE for admission into graduate school but I didn't take it again for AMNP since I met the requirements to opt out of it... Thank goodness haha. Junebugemma, it sounds like you've done amazing things!! There's no doubt that you've got "experiences" covered!
I'm hoping that they like that I have a master's degree and don't see it as "she's been away from anything medical for a while so we don't want her." I was pretty confident when I went to the informational session back in March, but as time goes on I get more and more nervous I may go to another session soon. Anyone want to join me??

Most of my pre-reqs were taken in the last 18months, but previously graduated w a BA 15 years ago. My recent courses were: A&P, micro, chem, dev psych, nutrition and stats.
I don't mind sharing my stats, Emilyn14:
pre-req GPA ~3.91
last 60 hrs ~3.65
overall GPA ~3.36
Wish my overall was higher but most of that is from my undergrad 15 years ago. Have a 4.0 in all classes since my BA degree. Hoping they weigh my more recent coursework higher than my earlier. I did not take the GRE.
I don't have direct hospital/clinic experience. However a lot of years in health-related jobs...heart surg coordinator for a non profit helping orphans in China, patient education conferences for a health-related nonprofit on UAB campus, health worker in Peace Corps, medical team participant to orphanages China, and a couple summers volunteering in a hospital when I was in high school, but it was so long ago they didn't keep computer records!!
) That made me feel pretty old. I also have 2 kiddos who had medical needs at the beginning so experience advocating for them in the healthcare realm.
