UAB AMNP 2017

Published

Hey everyone! I'm currently a student at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. I graduate this December and I'll be applying to UAB's AMNP program this Fall for the Spring 2017 class! I hope this group/thread can be used to help each other out through the application process. Also, to anyone currently in the AMNP program, please don't hesitate to drop in and share your application experience! :)

So we should definitely hear something on the 12th for sure? I didn't want to get too excited because I was never given a date, I was just told that we would know "in advance" lol

I'm not completely sure. I was never given a specific date either, but that's what has been going around! Plus they probably have to give people who are OOS plenty of time to make travel/ lodging arrangements before the last week of October! Just a thought.

Whoooo hooooo! So exciting...and a little nerve wrecking!

I was told by the program manager that we would know something by the 12th! I emailed her about the timeline after I submitted my application and she said they would start reviewing apps the first week of October, we would know about an interview by the 12th, and interviews the week of the 24th. I'm thankful she was so transparent about it! Usually schools are like "in a couple of weeks" haha.

Hey all!

I also applied to the program and was wondering how you all calculated the science GPA? Did you only use the foundation courses such as anatomy,physiology,etc... or did you combine the foundation and additional sciences like patho???

thanks!

I don't think there is a "science GPA". At the info meetings I attended, I was told they calculate 3 GPAs: overall GPA, foundational GPA, and last 60 hrs GPA.

Was also told the best indicator of success in the AMNP program is how well a student did in micro and A&P.

Thank you!

Thank you for the advice on apartments! I definitely wont be trying to live downtown anymore lol. 9 MORE DAYS!!! I too was told the 12th..... I'm praying we all get interviews... I feel like I've been waiting all summer for this..

So we are evaluated using all 3 gpas?

That's what I was told, futurenurselove.

So do they go with the highest gpa? What is the purpose behind it? Sorry for all of the questions. Just curious.

For the last 60 hr gpa, do they calculate it from grades just from your undergrad degree or also from courses taken after degree completion?
