UAB AMNP 2017

Hey everyone! I'm currently a student at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. I graduate this December and I'll be applying to UAB's AMNP program this Fall for the Spring 2017 class! I hope this group/thread can be used to help each other out through the application process. Also, to anyone currently in the AMNP program, please don't hesitate to drop in and share your application experience! :)

When would new student orientation be?

No idea... probably right before classes start in January?

Hey @samwell, they didn't interview me or ask for anything else! I submitted in mid August. I wish UAB was that simple haha.

I have been stalking this page for about a year now and I finally decided to join.

I have applied to the AMNP and 2nd degree program at UAB. Just like everyone else I am super nervous. I have a bachelors of interdisciplinary studies from Georgia State in Healthcare informatics. I am hoping to specialize in nursing informatics or FNP. Best of luck to everyone!

Did y'all just get the email talking about interview dates? I was in class and almost freaked out thinking it was a decision email!

I got it too. I had to read it very carefully to make sure it wasn't an invitation to interview. Lol. But good to know when the dates are exactly.

Has anyone asked when the committee is meeting?

Mrs. Lavier told me they are meeting the first week of October and that we will be notified by October 12th if we have an interview.

I did get an email saying they were still missing one of my transcripts. It wasn't mailed until Friday the 16th (from Seattle) and needs to be there by the 23rd, EEeEEEE I hope it gets there in time. Making me super nervous.

The interview dates are October 24, 25, 27, and 28. They've said they get "about 130 applications every year and accept about 70" but no specifics have been given for this year. You probably didn't get the email because your application isn't complete. I feel sure your transcript will get there in time!!

Yeah, my stomach felt like it dropped for miles when I saw the subject! I thought it was invitation, haha. I honestly wish it was...

Nonetheless I'm happy we got it, because it's a good reminder that October is right around the corner!!! Can't wait until we hear more good news! (Or just news...I'll take either lol)
