Hi everyone,
I'm considering MEPN application to the UofA next year. I've been in touch with the advisor, Chris Sogge, for the past 3 years. I have a B.S. in Computer Science and a M.Sc. in Biology from Canada . Chris said that I need a pre-req GPA of 3.7 at least to get into the program; mine is 3.3. Do I stand any chances? Did anyone get in with lower pre-req grades? I'm trying to juggle pre-req taking with a toddler. Thanks so much for your advice!
Marina.
Hello! I was thinking about applying to the program for this upcoming cohort; and I was wondering if there was anything different from the campus in Tucson vs Phoenix. I have heard that for campus on Phoenix it is more digital in that, the lectures are presented online. Thanks in advance and I hope you are all staying safe!

Hello,
I'm almost a month into the program. Due to Covid 19, everything is completely online including clinicals for both campuses. It's also more accelerated than usual because of the pandemic.
That sucks for you guys. The hours spent with real patients on the floor unit are priceless. Those rotations were indispensable to my training. The real world will be a shock to new grads without these hours. It would be my suggestion that you try to volunteer anywhere that will allow you. This will be a tough task, but it will benefit you. Best of luck to all future grads.

It’s still all up in the air. Right now we are still online. They haven’t said what is going to happen for level 2 yet, bc they still don’t know. No clinicals in the hospital and no skills labs ?♀️

I applied to the PHX location but I would accept any Tucson if offered. I was a dental hygienist for 7 years, but I haven't worked or volunteered since I had my son 2 years ago so I'm hoping that they will consider that as "experience". I can't believe I didn't find this thread earlier. So excited, but I'm also super nervous about the interview. I don't do well in interviews ? Good luck to everyone. Looking forward to meeting you all there hopefully.
caitlyn,
I'm browsing this thread to get an idea of the MEPN and noticed you're a hygienist too! I'm currently working as a dental hygienist and burned out so looking into nursing to open more doors. I'm on an alternate list for the ASU Accelerated BSN program, but my chances of getting in are low, so looking into the U of A MEPN program so I can apply by Dec.
Did you end up doing it?
@RngirlBsn2021 No. From my understanding this is a new program and something we are eligible to apply for after completing the MEPN program, not before. It’s quite a bit more schooling and $ but looks like an awesome program!

Hello!
Thanks for the reply, I would be getting a 3.76 in my prereq GPA, and the 3.5 would be in my final 60 credits. I do plan on making this my life as I am researching loans so I don’t have to work during that time, as I have worked full-time since I was 17( currently 22). I work at the MVD right now and have worked jobs in retail and restaurant. I will also be getting a job as a caregiver in July.
Thanks in advance!
