Hi everyone,
I'm considering MEPN application to the UofA next year. I've been in touch with the advisor, Chris Sogge, for the past 3 years. I have a B.S. in Computer Science and a M.Sc. in Biology from Canada . Chris said that I need a pre-req GPA of 3.7 at least to get into the program; mine is 3.3. Do I stand any chances? Did anyone get in with lower pre-req grades? I'm trying to juggle pre-req taking with a toddler. Thanks so much for your advice!
Marina.
Thanks for sharing.
Hmm.. please correct me if I'm wrong. I thought the orientation of Module 4 had the same book list that Caitlyn posted (https://allnurses.com/ua-mepn-t695655/?page=39&tab=comments#comment-7604300)
That list states 6 required access codes: 5 books and 1 skills video.
(I tried to DM you @JessicaMercierrez but I can't)
Anyways, I still have to buy the bundle due to the access codes AND return the books I bought with codes from amazon. *Sigh. I feel like I'm being punished for NOT procrastinating
I’ve seen this list too....honestly it’s such a mess and they haven’t been very clear. I’m going off what Heidi posted in module 3 and her responses on some of the FB posts about just buying the Fundamentals and Med Surg for codes and then the Davis videos. You may want to post to the textbook discussion board in D2L and ask her for clarification.

I've spent way too much time on this and I'm sure you guys have done your research too. The list states now we have 6 books with required codes instead of 4. Also, the Taber's medical dictionary is online.
What did you guys decide on?
I've given up I'm just going to get the FA book bundle and then try my hardest to not purchase any more books on the other book list that's not included in the bundle. I'm also going to use the free online books from the u library.
But all things considered if we only spend about the price of the book bundle for the whole program that's still pretty cheap for books.
Me too! I got tired and frustrated with all the confusion with the books and just bought the bundle. Most if the other books on the list are available online except for high acuity nursing which we won't need til later so hoping I won't have to buy any more books for now. It's probably slightly cheaper to not get the bundle, but the stress of it all (trying to find used books for cheap) is just too much for me.
I am worried that although Hedi said we won’t need the codes for the others that things could change and then we would need them. I bought several of the books on the other list off thrifty books. I got older editions of the ones that are available for free online so I could also have a physical book and bought them for like $5 each!!
So I just looked on module 3.... the books that are listed are specifically for level 1+2. Essentials of psyc and pediatric nursing are listed as needing an access code but since they are later levels aren’t listed. That is another $185 for those 2 books new. So maternal newborn and clinical simulations are the only two I see that say they require access codes on the paper but then in the module say you can buy used.
Hey everyone,
Financial aid has finally been posted! In that regard, I realize that the program is a flat rate of $44,000 for in state tuition. Does anyone know if/how this is broken down? Are we expected to front the $44,000 at once or are they taken out in installments every semester and if so, how much per semester? If we are expected to front the $44,000 then interest will be much higher than if it would be be taken out as needed!

This update was posted on Saturday. I guess the college does not want classes to resume after July 1.

My understanding is the only two that require codes are the fundamentals book and the med surg book as indicated in module 3 of the orientation. They also want us to buy the APA new and the rest can be used. I bought directly from FA Davis because if you create an account before you buy they give you a 20% off coupon code for your order and then they are cheaper than buying new on Amazon. You also get instant access to the ebook while you wait for the hard copy to be mailed (if you purchase the hard copy). I bought the rest used from the previous cohort.
