TWU Spring 2009

Published

Hello everyone just wanted to see if there were anymore hopeful spring 2009 applicants out there. I submitted my application already and just sitting back waiting till Nov when acceptance/rejection letters are sent out. I know they said for us to check out emails everyday in October. If anyone has been through the application process before please share your experience. Good luck to everyone :wink2:

I applied to the Dallas Campus. I'm not taking any classes at TWU. But for the person that said retaking classes is a waste of time, I AGREE. But I'm only interested to going to TWU Dallas. Closest to my home and I will be able to save some money. So i don't have much of a choice either way, plus my current job as a Supervisor at UPS pays for my school so I took advantage of that. I'm retaking A&P 1, Developmental Psych, and I never took Texas Government so I'm in that class as well. So im really retaking two classes.

I am defenately bummed out, but I'm not a quiter. I will look forward because failure is part of life and we have to LEARN from it.

:chuckle

Well at least some folks have heard good news. I received my "REJECTION" letter today. What a bummer. I had a 3.74 GPA with a NET Reading Comp of 69. After I heard that someone was wait-listed I was a little excited. Well what can you do now. I didn't take any of my pre-req's at TWU but I'm in the process of retaking 3 classes which I got B's in and so far I've got A's in each. It should bump my GPA up to a 3.9 or really close to it. This thread has really helped! I love this website and all the support people give to each other. Thanks for all those who helped!

I won't give up. I'll be reapplying for Fall and retaking my NET!

I am shocked that you got rejected. That really is a great GPA to have for an application. Maybe you can call them and ask what you could do to improve your application. And I can't imagine what you would need to be waitlisted! I know princess got waitlisted but I dont know if she mention her stats or not...

Everyone keep trying!! Don't give up. It is a hard profession to get into, but well worth it!

hello to all

i received my letter in the mail and yes "rejection." i will reapply next application period.

i was sad, but i am thankful for all blessings and god knows best!

your support is so appreciated and this discussion board has been

part of my support system. i am here to continue to root all of you on and for those that have been accepted...go kick some butt in nursing school:nuke:

nursetobe12, i am so sorry to hear that! i just can't believe so many people are being rejected! you are so strong, as apparent in your post! keep trying and goodluck! will you apply to the summer program? there is the fast track and the weekend program. my advisor mentioned to me that not many are applying to the weekend program...

Alright friends

Time for the low down from the CON....This is the first application period that they have seen so many students that received the .4 bump.

In the last five semesters I would have been accepted into the program. Also Fast Track takes up twenty of those slots so where Spring normally has 120 seats this year only 100 seats. The Fast Track program is every other year.

Also they are looking at the .4 bump because it becomes bad PR for our school for deserving students that have worked very hard on earning their own GPA.

Please do not get me wrong there are a lot of students that have earned 3.8-4.0 on their own and they should be commended for sure:yeah:

My counselor did not advise me to retake classes or gamble my NET Score for a better one. She said apply again in December and hopefully things will be back to normal.

I was in break down mode earlier, but my nursing counselor called and I am back in the saddle my friends.

This is what I mean by trusting in him. By my counselor calling me it only shows that he has this door open for me!

I am so positive!

Nursetobe12: i am SO proud of you! Your faith will pull you through, and you could not be more right in the fact that your nursing counselor called you as that door being kept open. Hold your head high b/c you are going to be an awesome nurse someday :nurse:

Thank you for the kind words! I am very sure of what GOD is saying to me. Sometimes we have to hear in human language so he speaks to one to pass to the next so we will understand.

I am very proud for you and once again please stay in touch. I wish you and others the best.

I am always hear if anyone needs to share great moments or discouraging ones.

Pookster - what schools did you apply to?

I applied to TWU Houston and UTHSCSA. If you get in to TWU will you stay in Houston, or are you planning on going to SA either way now? I'm kind of looking forward to the move, although there are definately some down sides to it.

Personally, I think the .4 bump borders on unfair, so I hope they either do away with it or maybe bring it down to something more reasonable. Four-tenths is a lot when you're essentially basing admissions on it, which is what it boils down to in a lot of cases. You can have someone with a 3.9 get bumped by a TWU student with a 3.6.

Just my opinion, though. I'm not trying to discredit the people who are doing prereqs at TWU.

You guys are all so awesome. I've been following your posts for a while now, mainly trying to figure out what to expect (I'm applying for fast track in Dallas 09). What I'm trying to keep in my mind, and what I would like to remind all of you .... is that the ONLY reason you aren't getting in with these GREAT GPAs is due to teacher shortage NOT because you aren't qualified. Hopefully, some of you will consider this fact after you've been in nursing a few years. I bet some of you would make wonderful nursing professors. I've enjoyed reading all of your inspiring words to each other these past few days (a sure sign of great nurses). Good luck to everyone. Hang in there you're going to do great things! :icon_hug:

I agree with you! It is crap! Especially if you took classes at a better and harder school then TWU. No offense to the people that go there, but everyone knows that some schools are more academically challenging then others and all schools are ranked! I just feel cheated. Why did I bust my butt when I could have been flying through with easy teachers in community college. Also, dont get me wrong about community college, I took a few of my classes there after graduation, but most at Southwestern.

Nursetobe12,

I don't understand how you got rejected and I was put on the waiting list!!! Your gpa was a lot higher than mines. My heart breaks for you since youy were always so positive through the whole process. If I get in I will study mu behind off especially for the people like you who should have gotten in but didn't. If I don't get in see you in the fall for sure!!!
