Starting this for anyone thinking about applying to Texas Women's University's Nursing program for Spring 2019. Even though it seems like a long time from now it's never too early to start preparing to apply:happy:

Greetings, future nurses!

Just popping in with some information for the upcoming Spring 2019 application cycle.

We have been made aware of changes to the NursingCAS appliction that will impact how you apply this time around:

  • You must now submit official transcripts for each college and university you've attended to both NursingCAS AND TWU's Office of Admissions Processing. (If you are a current TWU student, you must request your TWU transcript to be sent to NursingCAS.)
  • When completing the NursingCAS application, you must do full transcript entry. For each college and university attended, you will enter all of the courses you've taken and the grades you earned for each class.

Please (please please please) plan ahead so you can complete and submit the application by the August 15, 2018 application deadline.

I'm a bit confused. I applied to TWU but I haven't been accepted yet. So once I'm accepted into TWU, then I tell TWU to send my transcript to Nursing CAS as well? How do we do that? I came from a Texas community college, so I wouldn't have any TWU classes on my transcript.

No, the transcripts you send need to also be sent and approved in NursingCAS in order to apply. I would suggest starting your NursingCAS application now, and sending them your community college transcript. Additionally, you have to enter every class in NursingCAS and then it takes them up to 4 weeks to verify your transcripts once they receive them. Start the general part now and have it ready, then when you are accepted to TWU, you just do the TWU specific part and submit.

Okay, thank you. I have already begun my NursingCAS application, so that's good. Thank you very much pappa22v :)

Hey everyone!! I am planning to apply for the Spring 2019 semester and thought I'd share my stats.

I have a 3.89 GPA in my pre-reqs and an overall 82.7% on the TEAS (1st attempt).

I am planning on retaking the TEAS within the next month with hope of getting over a 92%.

After using the points spreadsheet, I currently have 41 points.

I feel like I need at least a 54 to be competitive, especially if this pool is anything like the Fall 2018!

If I can get a 92% in all areas, I will have 54.4 points.

If I can get a 95% in all areas, I will have 59 points.

It is crazy that with an 3.89 GPA that I feel like I need to take the TEAS again for over a 90%.

It is definitely doable so fingers crossed!

Good luck to everyone!

Hey Y'all! I am applying for Dallas campus spring 2019 and I wanted to share my stats and get your advice/ask a few questions.

I have A&P 2 left to take I'm taking it this summer and it will be over just a week before the deadline. I am going to submit my transcripts as soon as they are available.

(For these calculations I am assuming an A in A&P 2, speak it into existence right!)

Pre Req GPA: 3.94

Nursing Core GPA: 4.0

TEAS: (took it this morning and was less than excited about my results, lowest section by far was science, I am assuming because I haven't taken A&P 2 yet and my test was heavy on this).

Overall: 88%

Reading: 93.6%

Math: 100%

Science: 68.1% (OUCH!!!)

English: 100%

That being said, I was already planning to retake the TEAS after getting some A&P under my belt, I wanted to see where I was at.

This puts me at 54.23 points...I would really like to get my TEAS to above a 90 and see that score go up because 54.23 does not seem competitive enough. I have no preferential points.

Quick question for y'all- I am going to be transferring core complete from UTA and for one of the blocks I have two different courses that is accepted, I have a B in one class and an A in the other so obviously I would like to factor in the A towards my overall transfer GPA. Do you know which course TWU will select? This is kind of a confusing question and I plan on emailing them about it but wanted to see if any other transfer students had the same question.

Thanks and GOOD LUCK to everyone!!

I'm so nervous for this cycle. I currently have 3.7 overall GPA (4.0 science and 3.9 prereq). Just took my TEAS and made 88%.

I did the spread sheet and I have a total of 58 points which seems quite low. I have quite a few of clepped classes though which don't receive a letter grade on my transcript, so I'm not sure how to factor those in >.

Hello Everyone,

I dont know if I am a little bit late to start applying to TWU, I recently decided to go back to school and start doing all of my prerequisites for nursing the only ones I have left is Statistics and Nutrition which I will be doing both this summer. I haven't taken my teas yet, I am barely starting to study for it. What is the first step I need to do? Is it too late to apply to the University and get accepted in time to apply for Spring 2019 Nursing Program? I want to get informed and see what my best options are.. I see a lot of you have been preparing for months, I don't know if I am too late my current GPA for the nursing core is 3.6 and my overall GPA is not that great since I didn't do so well many years back. I have a currently a 3.1 overall GPA. I don't even know if I even have any chances at all.. what do you guys recommend for me any tips would be greatly appreciated. Best of luck to everyone.

Hi everyone, I will be applying for the Spring 2019 as well. Does anyone know if there are any immunization requirements to apply? or attending a information session is mandatory in order for us to apply? I will really appreciate if anyone can answer please.

babpy603,

have you applied to the university or are you a student there already? I am trying to apply hopefully I can do it in time before the deadline. I believe there are some immunization requirements but I will have to double check, Let me see if I can find where I read it.

I Believe the requirements are only after you get accepted and are ready to enroll in the clinical but hopefully someone here can confirm that for us.. this is what i found online.

[h=2]Requirements for Clinical Course Enrollment[/h]At the time of enrollment in clinical nursing courses, the student must provide proof of:

  1. clear FBI background check or clearance of a Declaratory Order from the Texas Board of Nursing;
  2. negative drug testing and criminal background screening by a company designated by the College of Nursing;
  3. current required immunizations as specified by TWU Student Health Services;
  4. current cardiopulmonary resuscitation Health Care Provider certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross; and
  5. health insurance (required by the clinical agencies).

Professional (covered by course fees) is provided for each student through the TWU student professional liability group policy.

Thank you so much for that information. And I am not a student at TWU yet but I just applied for admission as a transfer student for SPRING 2019. I tried to make an appointment with an advisor to get the complete information regarding the nursing program and how to apply but unfortunately, they don't have any advisor appointments available until August 18th which is past the deadline. So, I am just hoping anyone in here was able to get in touch with an advisor and willing to share with us about what needs to be taken care of to have a complete application submitted for nursing program.
