Starting this for anyone thinking about applying to Texas Women's University's Nursing program for Spring 2019. Even though it seems like a long time from now it's never too early to start preparing to apply:happy:

Is anyone else prepping for the TEAS or has already taken it?

bappy603,

I am also applying for transfer student, I am filling in the application as we speak, but I selected Fall 2018, since I wasn't for sure if I needed to apply for the semester before since the deadline for the nursing program is August 2018. Also don't we need to take Phato and Pharmacology before we enter the upper division nursing classes... ?? honestly I am very confused too, do you already have a previous bachelors? I know they ask that question in the application. From where are you transferring? I took all of my pre-reqs at DCCCD.

I am transferring from DCCCD as well and I didn't see Phato and Pharmacology as a requirement anywhere so I don't think that we need it. And I know, there are so many questions that needs answers but it's hard to get a hold of an advisor. I just saw that they have an information session coming up this July 13th I believe. I will see if can make it to that so I can get some answers regarding the whole nursing program. And I applied for Spring 2019 as I know that I won't be taking any classes at TWU this fall as I already have all the pre reqs taken care of.

Yes I know I didn't see it either, but I thought before we start the upper division nursing classes we need to have those completed or am I wrong? I know with UTA that is the way they work I am not sure with TWU. Maybe if you go to that information session you can find out or maybe someone here knows about it.

From my knowledge, TWU does not require you to complete Patho or Pharm before applying. You can take them before admittance, although I'm not sure if you have to strictly take it with TWU or if they'll allow you to transfer it from another community college/4 year university.

when you mean before admittance, you mean before starting the nursing program? in that case we will have to take them before spring semester or I wonder if we can take them during the nursing program.

In the Nursing program for TWU they offer both Pharmacology and Pathophysiology during the program. Some people take those courses before applying to the TWU nursing program.

The only thing is that both Pharmacology and Pathophysiology are upper division classes, meaning that if you take them somewhere else, the nursing advisors will review them to see if they will accept it from whatever college/university you took it from.

I hope this makes better sense.

Pharmacology is not typically accepted by TWU from another school, and Patho I believe there are only 1 or 2 schools that they accept. Some people choose to take Patho at TWU the semester before entering the Nursing program in order to have a lighter course load the first semester. It's entirely a personal choice.

Sophitia 74,

yes that makes sense thanks for taking the time to respond back to me.. This whole process is a bit confusing for me.. and I am trying my best to get acquainted with all of this.

Have you taken the TEAS?

Oh ok that makes sense, but do you know if you are able to transfer Phato to another university if you take it at TWU?

Also I have a question have you taken the TEAS? I was trying to register to take mine before I apply this august to the Nursing program but how far ahead do I need to take the test before submitting my application to the nursing department.. Thanks

Have you taken the TEAS?

The post above you from Pappa22v explains it more clearly.

Yes, I have taken the TEAS 6 exam.

i am trying to sign up to take mine, through the website TWU offers, but I am not sure when will be the best time... ? is there a time period I have to take it before applying into the nursing program.

I took mine in April because I wanted to make sure I had enough time for applications. You'll need your TEAS score to see where you stand for applying to the program. I took my TEAS exam at a testing center, so I received my score the moment I finished the exam. However, some people who take it through PSI complained of the long waiting period for their scores.

You must submit your TEAS scores before Aug 15th which is the deadline for the application.
