Starting this for anyone thinking about applying to Texas Women's University's Nursing program for Spring 2019. Even though it seems like a long time from now it's never too early to start preparing to apply:happy:
Is anyone else prepping for the TEAS or has already taken it?
Hey everyone, I just took my TEAS6 exam yesterday and I got a score lower than I wanted (in order to be more competitive) but here's where I stand.
My nursing core GPA: 4.0
My prerequisites GPA: 3.885
My TEAS 6 score: 88.0%
Fingers crossed that I get into the Spring 2019 because they're my first choice. Good luck to everyone who's planning to apply!
How did you study for the TEAS?
I used the TEAS Secret book by Mometrix and the actual ATI TEAS manual from the company. I watch a lot of Khan Academy and other videos for science. It was pretty tough to study because I was doing it while having an 11 credit hour spring semester going on of pretty tough classes, but I kept my grades up in the A range, so my GPA wouldn't be affected. The English section really got me because the questions were different than what I was used to.
My individual scores in the TEAS were
Reading: 87.2
Math: 93.8
Science: 91.5
English: 79.2
I come out with 51.9 points for Houston BSN program. Fingers crossed.
Those are great stats! Im getting worried about the TEAS, I will take it in June. I will study once my Anatomy 2 class ends. How detailed were the questions in science?Hoping to apply to TWU Dallas.
The anatomy questions are basic, at least on my test they were basic. I had to learn A&P 2 on my own before taking the TEAS. I'm taking A&P 2 right now but with my class schedule yesterday was the best option for me to take the TEAS or until after finals which would be in late May. I want to retake it, but its $100 in Houston, TX.
I think your stats are good! with a 4.0 GPA I dont see why you shouldn't get in!How many retakes do we get per application period?
Thank you, I'm hoping the same thing :)
I was informed that they didn't have a limit on how many times you could take the TEAS, nor did they have a waiting period for attempts. That information came by me emailing them.
Hi everybody, I'm a little late to the party but have recently decided to apply to TWU Houston for Spring 2019 start. I need to take my TEAS still, so no score to report back on for that. We are currently in San Antonio still while my husband finishes his military contract then we will be calling the Houston area home for good! I am finishing all of my pre-req's right now, this term I will finish Micro and be done with both A&P's as well as wrapping up the rest of my Core to finish with two Associate's this summer.
Does anybody have any idea how many seats are available for the Houston program?
I'm excited to finally be putting my name in the hat for programs and look forward to what's to come for each of us!

You shouldn't have to submit your transcripts through NursingCas only through the TWU General application
