TWU Spring 2016 Houston

Published

Hello everyone! I tried to search for a thread for TWU Houston Spring 2016 applicants but I couldn't find it so I decided to make one. I have read multiple threads from the past TWU applicants and I cant seem to figure out where I stand because some got accepted with low GPA but high TEAS score while others high GPA but low TEAS score. A little bit confused on how TWU determine their candidates.

Is anyone else applying to TWU this Spring? If so what's your stats?

My stats:

GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 76 :(

No previous degree

4 TWU preference ( not sure if this gonna help or not anymore)

And good luck to everyone who is applying!

@valxoxo7 It says that it is on one of their transfer guides but you can test out of it. I think it might be just to know if we know how to use a computer and Microsoft programs. I wouldn't worry about it. Here is a link to their prerequisites for Community Colleges. If you have any questions bout it you can e-mail them. They are good at getting back at us. http://www.twu.edu/downloads/nursing/Community_Colleges.pdf

Hi @bryanv.... may I ask where you found this link? I've looked all over their website and the only transfer equivalencies PDF I've found is not the same as the one you've posted. I'm finishing my last prerequisites this fall, and according to the transfer classes currently listed on their website, I will have all the classes I need. But if the one you posted is current....then I'll have an extra class or two missing.

Is it possible that, that link is for the Dallas campus? and Houston has different requirements? This is the link I see: http://www.twu.edu/downloads/nursing/Community_Colleges_2014.pdf

@winemo, The link you posted is the copy I have from going to their info session .... They said if you're core complete then you don't need to take women's studies

I forgot to mention that on here earlier when I found my paperwork from the info session I went to in the beginning of the year.

Thank you valxoxo7! I asked about the women's studies class in another thread and no one has replied... Now I'm left wondering about the computer, and quantitative math class? But I guess that's were being core complete comes in... unfortunately I missed out twice on going to their info sessions, but I still have some time before applying for the fall.

Thanks guys and good luck to all of you!!!

How did everyone do on their TEAS that took it today?! I was so worried because I didn't get to study as much as I wanted to. AND I woke up with a terrible cold yesterday and have been feeling terrible ever since!! But I managed to get an 84!☺️

What kind of questions did they ask you on the science portion? Was it mostly anatomy or earth science?

Omg it was a little bit of everything!! But I feel like there was a bunch of those earth science questions and chemistry-like questions. I scored the worst on the science section of course.

Did you take it today? What did you get? @147nataly

There were SEVERAL questions on that portion that I was totally not prepared for, that I never saw on any of the study guides or study materials😭😭😭

@valxoxo7 I m taking it tomorrow and super nervous especially about the science section :/

@valxoxo7 I m taking it tomorrow and super nervous especially about the science section :/

Don't be nervous, just refresh your memory on your weakest subjects, and good luck! Let us know how you did!

The good part is you get your score as soon as you finish ☺️

@valxoxo7 thanks! I definitely will!

Well I got my TEAS V scores and I am devastated. I am posting these scores to help future or current applicants.

Over all score: 73.3%

Reading: 71.4%

Math: 66.7%

Science: 75%

Eng & Language: 83.3%

GPA: 3.7

Read fast and try to comprehend the first time. I ran out of time for the English and Math portions but answered everything even if I had to guess.

I was confident that Math would be my second highest score. All of the math practice test I took were in the mid 80s. And I was sure science was going to be My highest because I made high 80s to low 90s on practice exams. The TEAS V was definitely more intense than what I prepared for. I know they will still consider my scores because to passing all sections. I hope my GPA helps me out.

I would definitely recommend using the ATI book and also investing in their online practice test, as well as taking as many practice exams form McGraw Hill's practice tests and Barron's practice test. People say that both the online TEAS V practice tests form ATI are similar to the format of the actual test so again I would recommend them. I think familiarizing yourself with the closest form of the test will help you. I wish I would have purchased the online practice test.

Good luck to all! and Congratulations @valxoxo7 ! You have an awesome score!
