TWU Spring 2016 Houston

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone! I tried to search for a thread for TWU Houston Spring 2016 applicants but I couldn't find it so I decided to make one. I have read multiple threads from the past TWU applicants and I cant seem to figure out where I stand because some got accepted with low GPA but high TEAS score while others high GPA but low TEAS score. A little bit confused on how TWU determine their candidates.

Is anyone else applying to TWU this Spring? If so what's your stats?

My stats:

GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 76 :(

No previous degree

4 TWU preference ( not sure if this gonna help or not anymore)

And good luck to everyone who is applying!

Hi! I am planning on applying for TWU but not sure if I'll make it, since I haven't taken either the HESI for UT- or my TEAS and I'm taking the HESI first since more schools take it.

Glad to find a thread and hope to meet more people here!

Your GPA is great btw!

mine is about 3.5 :( need to calculate it will post exact later.

Could you tell me more about your TEAS experience? Any tips ? What was the cost ? How long did it take?

Thanks!! :)

Hi Valxoxo!

Your GPA is quite good as well! I have seen people who make it into the program with the GPA of 3.01! I actually thought that most schools take TEAS but I guess it's depend on which school you are planning to apply. Beside TWU I'm also applying to UTMB, Texas Tech, and Sam Houston. All of them take TEAS. I believe UT health take HESI and most A&M schools.

Most people said TEAS is harder than HESI because of the science section. One word you can describe it is RANDOM! Most science questions are very random and has little to do with A&P. The TEAS math problems also has more words than numbers compare to HESI. For HESI they would ask question like: 6537 + 3762 = ? but for TEAS they would give you a whole scenario/story and you figure out what kind of math you need to use to answer the question.

I also heard a lot of people run out of time during the TEAS because each section is timed like Reading 58 minutes, Math 51 minutes, Science 66 minutes & etc. whereas HESI you get around 4 hours for the whole test. For TEAS you can go back to the previous question but for HESI you don't. Also for TEAS you can actually take a break after each section if you need to but for HESI the time will keep running from the beginning to the end.

When I took the TEAS, the only section I have time to go back is the science section. It doesn't really help much because I still don't know the answer to most of the questions lol. Other sections I barely make it in time. :(

Good luck on your exams! :)

Hello Boozii3, I am very sure you will get in. I have a couple of questions for you. If you don't mind, may you email me at [email protected].

Hi Moni! Sure thing!

I just realized I make this thread in the wrong forum. No wonder why not a lot of people is posting

Thanks @boozii3 for your reply! That was really helpful! What study guides did you use for the TEAS? How much do you feel they helped? Also, do you know your score right away when you take the TEAS?

Sorry so many questions! Lol :)

I used the ATI teas v study guide. It does help. It gives you an idea what the test will look like. I thought it was really helpful. You will get your result online after 48 hours on the ATI website

Hi guys! I'm also applying for the spring!

I don't have a previous BS and i didn't attend TWU

GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 91.6%

Good luck to all of us!
