I think it is time we get our own thread for those of us who have been accepted to TWU's Houston program and plan to attend.
Thanks, Uponastar! So we will have to have all this done by Dec 11th? That's so soon. Do you already have all of your immunizations in order?I'm a little worried about the Hep B because from what I've been reading, it takes a total of six months to have all 3 that we need. Would you happen to know more about this? Thanks again.
I called the Houston center just now and the person I spoke to asked me for my name and told me that my packet was sent out on the 10th, so I should give it one more day. About the Hep B I need to dig up my shot records. I was born in 87 so hopefully I've had it already like you,Ali. Does anyone know if we have to have the series completed by Dec 11th?
Hey guys, I spoke with a person from the Houston Center, and regarding our immunizations, they don't all have to be complete by the Dec.4, we only need to show proof that we have had at least the first round of each of the one's that we need. Unfortunately, I have to have all of them except the MMR! This is getting expensive and we aren't even in school yet!

that's a huge relief! when i called last week, they just told me to wait for my info packet to get details. i was just looking at my shot record and i did get the series of 3 hep b shots back in 2001-2002. hopefully this is all i need because you're right, the whole process is turning out to be really expensive. i was previously a student at north harris college and they are offering the hep b for $35 which is a good deal compared to prices i've seen for it at walgreens or doctor's offices. i'm not sure if you have to be a student there though. it's probably a good idea to call and make sure about the locations/dates/times etc.

Hey guys! I just now found this thread and I already feel so behind! I still don't have my packet since I turned in my confirmation on the last day >_
Anyways, I see that several of you guys are looking for a place to stay and I wanted to give you guys a little tip. I currently live in an apartment that's 5 mins (driving time) from the medical center and there's a bus right in front of the complex that takes you right in front of TWU. It's a 3 min walk from where the bus drops you off to the TWU building (I know because I actually timed myself walking lol). It's the most spacious apartments I've found near the medical center and the most reasonably priced ($1234 for 3 bdrm 2 bath). I've lived here for the this entire Fall semester. If any of you have questions or interested, just message me and I'll give you more info!
Also, do any of you guys want to get together before orientation or something? Or we can plan to grab lunch/bubble tea after orientation =)
I cant wait to meet you all!

2. Attendance at orientation sessions held in HOuston on Jan 14, 2010 for the College of Nursing and January 15, 2010 for TWU. Attendance is required; times will be announced.
3. Need completion of criminal background screening and drug screening.
4. We also need proof of immunization.
I will post it later because right now it is 2am already. Sorry guys.
