Hey everyone. I just wanted to start a thread for all of those hoping to get into TWU starting Spring 2014. My name is Kia and I have already sent in my application and completed my TEAS V exam. I'll be in the Denton campus patho class this fall (trying to wait patiently for an acceptance letter-GOD willing).

No idea about child care. Sorry, my kids have 4 legs and stay home alone.
> Another question, the times for the classes that you previously posted, will they remain the same > for the incoming students or does it differ over the courses of semesters?
The class schedule is pretty well set for the past several semesters. And I would be willing to bet large sums of money that it won't be changing anytime soon.
Does anyone attending/living in Dallas know whether or not using the DART would be doable? I am trying to look online at schedules but it's confusing me a bit.
Mostly I'd just like to know if anyone else does it, if so which stop is the closest? Lastly, I'm thinking I will probably have to take the train AND bus, is this correct?
If anyone knows, thanks ahead of time!
Orientation is typically scheduled right before finals – so that means about the first week of December.Finding roommate/housing – sorry no idea there. I will ask around to a couple of people that moved here for school.
BON backgrounds should come in the next package of material or email. Give yourself at a few weeks to get a response from the BON.
Failing a class may be one for the worst things you can do. Here is the policy (in place today) as I understand it. You are allowed to fail 1 class during the entire program – 2 failures (collectively) during the program and you are out of the program regardless of when the failures happen. Also a failure is a final grade below 72 (but they may up it to 75).
Studying – all depends on what works for you, there is no silver bullet.
Clinical days for J1 semester – you start with 2 lab days, and about mid-semester you will start clinical rotations and one of those days will turn to hospital days. Your hospital days will start at 6:30 and run to about 3, you will only go to one hospital during the semester. You also find out which days you have lab/clinical and which hospital you will be at in January.
Tests will vary by course – all 4 are different.
Books – depends on who you ask, talk to you mentor (meet then at orientation in January) and the CPR instructors if you take the CPR class on campus.
Also, this is something I forgot to mention earlier. As you have time now, go ahead and make an appointment with your doctor’s office to get your titers to prove immunity. You will need titers not just shot records for:
MMR
Hep B
Varicella
Go ahead and get your flu shot (annual) and TB (TB is good for 1 year).
You will also need to get an antibody test to show you don’t have Hep C (yes, it is a new requirement).
Thank you for the info!! Any recommendations for a stethoscope? I was looking online at Littmann, but there are several models

Whatever you can afford and are comfortable with. If you are looking for a general stethoscope, you will need a bell and diaphragm for assessment class. Also, I personally wouldn't go with the cheapest thing out there - go at least one step better.
As far as Littmann goes - I have two actually. One is a cardio III, but I hardly ever carry it to clinical due to the weight and stiffness of the tubing (hard to wrap up into a cargo pocket). My regular use is just a classic II. I got it online with laser engraving on the head to help prevent it from disappearing. I can definitely tell a difference between the two, but my ears aren't tuned enough to warrant the extra weight of the cardio III in my opinion.

I ride the TRE but I know one girl that rides DART. She gets off at the Inwood station and walks. It's like maybe half a mile. Download the "GoPass" app. Its an app for DART/TRE and it has like a trip planner you can use.
