Hello!
I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?
After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.
So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!
I googled it and there were some new ones that came up on EBay for $85. Did you get the study guide too? I'm wondering if it's worth it. I saw some bundles for $120 that included it.
I didn't get the study guide...I'm wondering if I should. I heard that it was helpful for some chapters but as an overall study guide it was just ok. But maybe I should? Let me know what you decide!

Ok, I'm going to be ordering my book this week but I don't think I'm going to get the study guide yet. I was going to rent the book from the bookstore because it's only $45 but I think I've decided to go ahead and buy it so I can hang on to it like you said. I think it's worth it to go ahead and pay the extra to be able to use it as a reference later on while in nursing school since we will be using this knowledge through out the rest of our careers!

Exactly! That's why I'm keeping it :)
I can't help but worry about my chances of getting in since so many of your stats are SO good! I only applied to TWU so I'm trying to think about what I can do to improve my chances next application period if it comes to that. I could boost my GPA from a 3.596 to a 3.71 if I re-take the only C on my transcript which is Hist 1013 that I took back in 2000 (telling my age, he-he). I of course would re-take the TEAS also but I would like to not have to re-take that class unless I absolutely have to, which would mean taking it during the winter mini-mester. Do any of you that have taken classes at TWU know if this course is offered during the winter mini-mester??? I tried to look on their website but there was no courses for Hist that pulled up for Fall 2 or 3.
Thanks for any feedback!

If you have to take History over again, I wouldn't take it at TWU because it'd be SO much cheaper if you just took it at the nearest community college! And usually they DO offer those core classes over winter-mesters. You would still have enough time to transfer the transcript over to TWU after the class, since the Fall deadline is Feb 1st.
But don't worry!!! I think you'll get in :) Ashley didn't seem too worried about your stats, so I would just remember that.

Yeah, that would probably be the best option. I just can't help but be concerned since I don't have a back-up plan!

You definitely want to keep track of all your books - they will help you study for your NCLEX. Also, TWU has a final exam before you can graduate that you must pass (to prepare for the NCLEX), and it covers evvvvverything you learn in those two years...beginning with good ole' patho :)

I bought a study guide new off Amazon for $25. I figure even if it's not required, it may help me study and learn better. If not, then oh well!
I had a C in History too and I retook it online through Richland Community College and got an A. The class was super cheap and not that hard. It was my only C as well so it helped my GPA... I'd say go ahead and do it!
I took all my classes through Lone Star College in the Houston area and I just checked, they do offer it during winter mini-mester on-line. So, I will just take it there if need be, but I will wait until I hear from TWU in Nov.. Hopefully I won't have to!
