TWU Fast Track Summer '09

Published

Is anyone out there applying for the fast track program starting in the summer for the Dallas campus? I am applying. Will have my pre-reqs completed in January. I am very stressed about them only accepting 30 students!!! Does anyone have any thoughts, concerns, anything??!? I think I am going crazy waiting for April to come to know if I got in or not!

I am freakishly sorry, Goopsy. A lot of people say I do tend to say things in a tactless manner, and it's something I really need to work on. I really didn't mean anything harsh by it. I'm really hard on myself that it drives others nuts as well. Please forgive me...

I suppose I was hard on you. I'm truly sensitive when people say things like that since I have a younger sibling who has Down syndrome, and he truly has an intellectual disability so when people say things like that, that they are "special", it makes me think that they don't know what it is like to have a disadvantage and/or a disability (mentally or physically). He is the smartest person I know, so being special is not always a bad thing :) He may not be book smart, but he is so smart that he can read your face to know if you are having the worst day or best day of your life. I told him I failed my NET and he said, "its OK, I'll become a Dr. just so that you can be my nurse..." Now that is special.

Congrats to those who got in! I wonder how many where wait listed?

does anybody know how many they will accept for the fall both houston and dallas campus?

They say 120, but when you look under pioneer portal at how many slots are available, there are only 100 blocked off for the upper nursing students.

is that for the dallas campus or both.

Goopsy, I must continue that last message... I read my post again and the reason I put "special" was not to be rude or anything. I literally was in special ed and resource classes for a learning disability growing up.... so taking the TAAS reading comprehension part was always way lower than the average (30%). I just truly thought that I needed an excuse for my NET score because it was lower than the NET scores for others who got in. Alright... enough of my excuses! You are truly fortunate to have a sibling who is special because it is an incredibly humbling experience!! :redbeathe

I'm not 100% sure about Houston, but I know that was for Dallas.

Thank you for the info, fanshawe. Yes that was my reading NET score I believe. Eeek! I'm so excited to start the program. Meet you soon!

For those of you who didn't get an acceptance letter to the fast-track program; don't lose hope! There was at least one person in my class who got called the day before classes started saying that they had a spot for her! Also, don't forget that those people who got accepted still have to confirm that they want to go there. A few more spots can open up...

Jspacegirl, did you work while you were in the program or do you know anyone who did? The information packet I received today really discouraged employment, but I don't have a choice unless I want to completely live off loans. I'm wondering if part time employment is feasible.

For those of you who did not get accepted...did you guys receive a rejection letter of some sort because I did not receive anything.

I didn't receive anything, maybe we should call after they come back from spring break... Hanging there Sophia.. we still have a chance!
