TWU Fall 2010

Published

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Fall of 2010? I got this idea from a previous thread and thought I should get one started for this semester, so that we can help each other and communicate with each other?

I have taken the Hesi-A2 and got a 74.8 on it so they didn't even look at my application. I live on campus so any help or information I can give just let me know. I'm excited and feel good about this deadline.

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

I had great time today at Buffalo Wild Wings...thanks ladies.

hey guys!

someone mentioned about getting a twu transfer scholarship worth $2000--I got the same thing..

u will not get an email about it...you will get a letter through the mail with 2 copies of the letter...one needs to be filled out and returned to the VP (address is provided)...and the other u keep for urself...

it will be disbursed as $1000 first semester and $1000 second semester..and then u can apply for the same scholarship again afterwards...good luck!

Also...i haven't applied for FAFSA yet..and by the sound of it..i'm starting to get freaked out a lil bit...

what's CIF? Where do i find it?

You can find it on your portal in the financial aid section, I think it is the first thing listed. Do your FASFA asp if you want any type of loans, grants, or money that can help you out. Hope this helps.

Thank you for setting up the get-together, did anyone else show up?

Yea I got the letter in the mail after I had posted on here.. Hopefully there's more to come! :)

CIF is on your pioneer portal on the students page under Financial Aid it is the first thing.

I hope you ladies had fun today at BWW. I could not go for various reasons but mostly because my boyfriend was having grand mal seizures last night and was taken to the hospital. He is okay now but I was up all night in the ER and then all day to take care of him when we brought him home. He kept calling me his little nurse all day it was cute lol..

Hey ladies, I really enjoyed the happy hour! It was so nice meeting all of you. Only a few people showed, but hopefully we can do it again b4 school starts!!

dolsen-no one else showed up after you left.

nat-glad to hear your b/f is ok. Are you ok??

Thank you, I'm fine. It's hard for me to sleep I keep thinking he might have another one everytime he moves or makes a noise but they did a lot of tests and he's okay and it's not common for him he's only had one before about 3 years ago so I'm just paranoid.

Has anyone done their financial aid?

It says we need to submit our tax returns including all schedules and W-2s.

My dad's tax return has a bunch of stuff... His W-2, a 1098 for the taxes on the mortgage, my 1098-T from school last year, and a savings account tax statement.

So do you think financial aid will need ALL of that or just his W-2?

Also, do you think they will need the Education Credits form? It doesn't say "Schedule" or anything on it but it was in there with all the papers...

Should I just send EVERYTHING just to be safe? And whatever they don't need then whatever? lol

Oh hey I got my packet today so make sure you guys check the mail! :)

Got my packet yesterday... Kinda confused on one thing. I wanted to take Patho this summer, but it says that we can't register before orientation, because our classes are going to be pre-selected for us? They are basing our class selections on us not having taken patho yet, so if we want to take patho in the summer, our schedules will be changing... How does this work? Plus, I want to register asap, to ensure that I get a spot in the class. Has anyone spoken to an advisor about this yet?

You can call if you want (let me know what they say!). But if you read it carefully it says that at the Advisement Session on May 7 is when we can select class schedules, complete registration, and all that stuff. And when I spoke to the program coordinator after I got the offer of admission she said that for those of us who want to take Patho in the summer, we can register for it at the Advisement Session. The paper is really confusing I had to read it over a few times lol, but since she had already told me it made me better understand it.

I'm a little concerned about the space issue also, but you just have to hold on to the hope that NOT EVERYONE is going to want to take Patho in the summer for whatever reason. It's a good idea to do it, but some people will have other obligations (or even other prereqs they have to finish) and won't be able to. But if you're concerned about the space thing, then I suggest you e-mail or call the program coordinator.

I have a question, too. I found my shot records and I guess I thought they were in detail but it's just a paper with a bunch of dates that I had all my shots but it doesn't say anything extra. Do you think this will be acceptable or will I have to get titers for basically everything? It was okay for my high school and for the Phlebotomy program at HCC but Idk if it's really enough for TWU... Also, for Varicella, will they accept "notes" from parents or whoever saying that we had chicken pox when we were little? On the form it just asks for the date of your vaccination or date of the titer, nothing about "When did you actually have chicken pox?" lol I'm thinking I'll probably have to get the titer for that, grrr.. Anyone know more about the immunization stuff? Or any current students?

natatat,

to answer your question about immunizations, for twu dallas, they are strict about documentation of your shots. i had to get a varicella titer since i didn't have paper work proving that i had gotten it done. they need proof of all your shots because you will be going to hospitals and the hospitals require that we are up to date on all our shots. however, i'm not sure how strict the houston campus is. hope that helps..
