  1. Hi everyone, Again congrats on getting accepted into TWU! Just wanted to give you guys some advice on patho, it will be a good idea if you all took patho in the summer as it will significantly lighten your load in the fall. Trust me, you'll love life a little bit more with patho out of the way. J1 will be a trying semester with pharm and patho along with your other 2 core classes. I took it the semester before I got accepted into the program back in fall 2009. I was so glad that i did that because pharm along was a killer. But if you don't, J1 is still doable...just tough. Good luck to you and welcome to the TWU nursing family!
  2. hello everyone! congrats on getting accepted to the nursing program! get ready for some tough times and some great times! -sunniiiie
  3. natatat, to answer your question about immunizations, for twu dallas, they are strict about documentation of your shots. i had to get a varicella titer since i didn't have paper work proving that i had gotten it done. they need proof of all your shots because you will be going to hospitals and the hospitals require that we are up to date on all our shots. however, i'm not sure how strict the houston campus is. hope that helps.. -s
  4. hey everyone! congrats on getting accepted! i'm currently a j1 and to answer your question about taking pharm and/or patho during the summer is...yes and no. you can take patho in the summer but not pharm. and trust me, you'll want to devote your time exclusively to patho b/c its a tough course even in the regular semester....and so is pharm. you should be able to register for patho when they open up registration. however, to be sure, i'd call the school to verify. good luck and see you all in the fall!
  5. Good luck to all! TWU is a great school. I'm a J1 and its been one a stressful but great experience. best of luck to all and i hope to see you in the fall!
  6. also, in case anyone is still looking for a steth, i bought mine on medisave.net. they engrave for free. it was a great deal!
  7. i'm renting 3 of my books from chegg.com. since some of the J1's in our patho class said that they didn't use their pharm book that much, i figured renting it for $50 was better. the rest of the books i will be buying from amazon or half.com. i found that the books with "online" access you can buy straight from the publisher's website. its not too bad. the lippincott one (taylor's clinical nursing skills online) was $59.95 and the other one was $49.95 from the elsevier site.
  8. Hey butterfly journey, i volunteer at parkland and was able to do it at their occupational health clinic. i think its open to anyone but you may want to call, if you're interested. the cost for my varicella titer was $60. lab tests go out on thursday and is ready for pick up by friday or at the latest, monday. hope that helps! -s
  9. i just got my varicella titer done last wednesday and the results were in by friday. it super quick!
  10. aw! i'm sad i missed out on j. pepe's! i had to go to houston to visit the inlaws. wish i could've been there to meet my future classmates! oh, btw, happy belated, elizabelle!
  11. hey goopsy! thx! that's what i get for not coming back to lecture...i just couldn't do it. not after that butt-whoopin' test.
  12. hey everyone, i had a quick question for those fellow dallas classmates taking patho at the dallas campus: when is our final? my syllabus says dec. 12. is that correct? did she mean monday, dec. 14? thx!
  13. i'd love to meet up for happy hour! just let me know when and where!
  14. i don't mind sharing my stats: gpa: 3.73 hesi: 88 critical thinking: 840
