Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Fall of 2010? I got this idea from a previous thread and thought I should get one started for this semester, so that we can help each other and communicate with each other?
I have taken the Hesi-A2 and got a 74.8 on it so they didn't even look at my application. I live on campus so any help or information I can give just let me know. I'm excited and feel good about this deadline.
Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!
OHHHH, did you all get the scholarship email?? Has anybody started filling out their fafsa?
I did my Fafsa but got an e-mail from TWU saying that my financial aid file is incomplete... But I'm not sure how to send copies of the stuff they need (by mail? by fax?). At HCC I would always take care of my financial aid (the one year they gave me some before my sister finished college lol after that I "didn't qualify") in the office but the financial aid office for TWU is in Denton lol. I do want to get everything in order soon, though, so hopefully they award me some money!! You never know if you'll be one of the lucky ones to get one of those scholarships we applied for on STARs (and some of those are not a lot, they would help, but we'd need more!).
I got the scholarship e-mail, too. At first I was like "What? But I did all the STARs ones that apply to me.." But I guess it is something different, I just haven't looked at it yet.
Has anyone looked into student loans? I know it might be an inevitability but I'm scared :/
:)Hi Everyone,
I too read the thread for about a month and decided to join. I will be at Buffalo Wild Wings on Friday & look forward to meeting you all. I applied to every TWU scholarship I could, the Good Samaritan Foundation, but did not qualify for the Health Foundation scholarship. I will print out some copies for you and bring it on Friday. This will be my second career and I am ready for a fresh start - this is the beginning!! If we help & encourage one another - we will all do well. I will commute from Rosharon, Texas - open to a car pool!
Welcome to the new members and congrats on getting into TWU!!
Email about sholarships? Uh... I know I already applied for several in STARS, and I've also been looking around the Internet and applying. For whatever reason, I can't open my TWU email right now, but I will be checking throughout the day. I haven't started the FAFSA yet, but I have been crazy busy with moving rooms and cleaning/organizing my parents' house because my sister and her baby are moving in while bro-in-law is shipped off to the war.
Hey guys! Just want to tell everyone to try to do your fafsa as SOON as you can! Because if you don't get selected for verification that's great, but if you do then you have to send in paperwork for your file. (I think it's random lol... But if you have to do verification that's where you have to send copies of yours and your parents' W-2s and tax returns, and usually a dependent verification worksheet if you are claiming you are a dependent.) So it's not all just "do the fafsa and you're done!" I wish it was. Oh and there's also a CIF form on pioneer portal that you have to do online it takes just a few minutes but I'm having problems because I got an e-mail saying that they received it but then when I e-mailed financial aid to ask them WHAT ALL they needed she said that they needed that one too but I was like "but I thought you guys had that one..." UGGHHH.. This kind of stuff always happens to me with financial aid lol
OH BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY
Go online and check your Financial Aid by Year on Pioneer Portal.
I have something listed there that says:
TWU Transfer Scholarship | Amount: $2,000 | Accepted
I don't know what that means?? Are they already awarding some of the STARs scholarships we applied for? Because I haven't received an e-mail or anything in the mail about it! So I want to know if it says that for anyone else!! So when you guys get a chance, check it and let me know... I'm going to call TWU financial aid tomorrow to ask them about that and ask them about my financial aid file too.
I currently attend Texas A&M University so I applied to their nursing school since I am already there but my parents live in Houston so I thought I could cut down on the costs by living at home again (although since TWU is private it's a lot more expensive than the other schools which are public). So either I'll stay in College Station and go to the nursing school there or live at home which is in Northwest Houston and commute from there to the Houston schools. Also, I clicked on that Financial Aid Status by Year thing and it says "error, you have no financial activity on record" so I dunno what's going on.
FOR REAL NAT??!! I have been checking that financial aid all month. One of my scholarships says pending. I already filled out my fafsa and I completed the CIF two days ago. That's great you already got some kind of money for school. That will definitely help!! Thanks for the info!!
Oh, tomorrow for those who will be at happy hour..ask for haywood/TWU either or, they know we are coming!
I will be wearing a yellow top and capris/or pants depending on how I feel and the weather. It should be sunny, so I read online.
Hope to see you all there!! :)
My financial aide says nothing. I just completed the CIF. Do I have to send a copy of my DL to the financial aide office? I've never heard of doing that...
I definitely need some scholarships/grants/loans...etc. I only work part-time for $8/hr...I barely pay off my previous student loans and credit cards each month! And $16k a year scares the pants off me!
