TWU Fall 2018 Nursing Applicants

Published

Hey guys, I know it's a little early, however, I decided to start this thread as the application process will be soon upon us.

How are you studying for the TEAS?

Wishing all the best! :)

Can someone please explain this GPA excel WS score to me? Like, what score is good and what score is bad?

Here is what I have:

Nursing Core GPA: 3.76

Pre-Req GPA: 3.864

TEAS Score: 87.2%

(I haven't actually taken the TEAs, but the 3 practice tests I have taken have been: 84.5%, 87.2%, and 90%. So I just put in the average)

The score at the bottom of the worksheet says: 63.87

What does this mean?

Thank you

That's amazing! I'm getting at 30 something!

Is the ApplyTX application ID the same as the TWU student ID?

Also, I remember reading somewhere that transcripts should be sent to TWU directly and not to NursingCas. Is this correct?

No the two ID numbers are different. When you sign on to pioneer portal or web advisor you should see your TWU ID when you click on your profile.

OK sorry for over posting today, but I downloaded the GPA worksheet and I'm wondering if this sounds right...

My Core GPA is 3.24

Pre-req GPA is 3.11

TEAS Score: 82.7%

Reading: 85.7

Math: 86.7

Science: 77.1

English: 83.3

No previous degree

My total points are showing: 30.2 (!!!!)

Does this sound right?

Yes it does if you look at the spread sheet before you enter any points the amount is negative. Points dramatically increase with Twu preference and prior bachelor bump. You can always email one of the nursing advisors and they will check your calulation for you.

You must have one of the preference on such as prior bacholers or Twu preference bump. That's a good score.

Do you have the prior bachelors or TWU bump? If not, it seems a bit high since i have a 58 with a GPA of 3.8 and TEAS of 94.7 with no bumps. If you do have one or both of the bumps it sounds about right

Does the new worksheet calculate precious degree bumps? I noticed my number didn't change with or without a degree.

Yes, I have the TWU preference bump.

A 94.7??? Dang! That's really good! Any tips on the TEAS? I'm stressing out about it and I've been studying every day for 2 weeks so far. I take it on the 26th

What kind of other expenses? I know there's immunizations, CPR certification, books, insurance, and also a uniform/scrubs you have to buy. Is there anything else I'm missing? I'm not really worried about the cost, I'll pay out of pocket for all the minor expenses/books and then take out a loan for the tuition, but just wanted to see if you could give a rough estimate for those extra costs.

You covered most of it! Other than tuition, the books were the priciest. I spent almost $400 on books for just one class. You'll also need a stethoscope, that was about $100, patches/name tags which you'll order during orientation, and for the immunizations, just make sure you have all of the required ones. I had to get some titers done and it added up to a little under $150. FA and Scholarships covered most of it for me, but just giving a heads up for anyone that might be paying strictly out of pocket because it adds up and unexpected expenses can really stress someone out.

Sorry, another question: Are the practice tests from ATI TEAs a good representation of the real test?

I bought the Mometrix ATI TEAs study guide, and the practice tests in there seem harder to me than the ones I bought off of ATI.

How competitive is the night and weekends program compared to the traditional one?

How competitive is the night and weekends program compared to the traditional one?

That's what I wonder. I always see info on the traditional programs, but never anything on the evening/weekend program. The only stat I've seen was back from the fall 2015 cycle which said they only had 74 applicants then
