TWU Fall 2018 Nursing Applicants

Published

Hey guys, I know it's a little early, however, I decided to start this thread as the application process will be soon upon us.

How are you studying for the TEAS?

Wishing all the best! :)

I was told that it already had to be awarded and shown on transcript. I would recheck if I were you to just be safe.

That wouldn't make sense if it had to be awarded. That would mess up a lot of schedules for their traditional students who have their financial aid and schedules all set. That would mean they would have to wait a whole half year before they could start a nursing program?

It just give you "extra points" if you already have it. You don't have to have a bachelor degree to apply to the nursing program because you're getting a bachelor degree once you complete the program. I don't have a bachelor degree, I've just completed the pre-reqs to apply, which many people have

From what the advisor told me, you just need to be in the last semester. Good luck on your test!!!

THANKS

As a last ditch effort, does anyone have insight on the TEAS exam? I am taking it tomorrow and I've lost all of my confidence after taking practice test B.

I have the ATI manual, Mometrix, and have been utilizing the ATI pocket prep app whenever I can. Is there anything else I could be looking over?

Thanks!

Would those of you who have taken the TEAS VI say the actual exam was more or less difficult than the practice assessment A or B? I am concerned about my score. I will be taking the exam tomorrow. My GPAs are great: overall-3.885 and prereqs-4.0.

I found the reading section to be more difficult than both practice tests because the passages were more difficult content-wise. The reading section is surprisingly harder than it should be (maybe its just like that for me) bc its not concrete like science, english, and math. There is no definite right answer. I had to learn to forget about what I thought the topic sentence was and start thinking like the people who make the test to see what THEY thought it was. The science was about the same as the practice tests. Math and English I thought were about the same as the practice tests but i ended up getting 100s on math and english so maybe they were easier. The only thing I would really recommend is to use ALL of your given time. If you finish early use the remaining time to go back over every question one by one.

Good luck to everyone that's applying! :) I'm starting nursing school tomorrow at the Dallas campus so it wasn't too long ago that I was in your same shoes. I transferred in with no bumps and only had my Teas score and GPA to help me out. So if you're feeling like you won't get in because you don't have additional preference points, definitely don't feel that way! Just stay positive!

Did you get into the weekend/evening program or into the traditional program with those stats?

Did you get into the weekend/evening program or into the traditional program with those stats?

I got into the traditional program for this Spring 2018 (weekend/evening program acceptance is only during Fall semester). I would honestly say that if you have anything above 53 points you're good to go! That would be what I consider a "safe range". And if you have over 55 points or somewhere in the 60's... honestly save yourself the stress and just wait for your acceptance letter lol. Other than that, the only other advice I have is to make sure to start looking into the immunizations you're required to get and definitely save up money if you aren't counting on scholarships! Tuition is pricy on it's own, but there's a lot of extra expenses that they don't mention until orientation.

Hi guys,

I was wondering how long till you got accepted in TWU in applytexas. I mean, the acceptance after sending transcripts to transfer.

Hi guys,

They say to apply to TWU at least 6 weeks before the nursing school application deadline of Feb 1st. When I applied it took maybe 3 weeks, but that was back in October. I'd imagine they're much busier now with people applying for the spring semester

What kind of other expenses? I know there's immunizations, CPR certification, books, insurance, and also a uniform/scrubs you have to buy. Is there anything else I'm missing? I'm not really worried about the cost, I'll pay out of pocket for all the minor expenses/books and then take out a loan for the tuition, but just wanted to see if you could give a rough estimate for those extra costs.

So if I were to submit an application now, I risk it not even being looked at? Since we are so close to the deadline?

Has anyone ever applied less than 6 weeks before the deadline?
