TWU Fall 2018 Nursing Applicants

Published

Hey guys, I know it's a little early, however, I decided to start this thread as the application process will be soon upon us.

How are you studying for the TEAS?

Wishing all the best! :)

I got into the traditional program for this Spring 2018 (weekend/evening program acceptance is only during Fall semester). I would honestly say that if you have anything above 53 points you're good to go! That would be what I consider a "safe range". And if you have over 55 points or somewhere in the 60's... honestly save yourself the stress and just wait for your acceptance letter lol. Other than that, the only other advice I have is to make sure to start looking into the immunizations you're required to get and definitely save up money if you aren't counting on scholarships! Tuition is pricy on it's own, but there's a lot of extra expenses that they don't mention until orientation.

Does anyone have the spreadsheet to calculate points?

Thanks!

So if I were to submit an application now, I risk it not even being looked at? Since we are so close to the deadline?

Has anyone ever applied less than 6 weeks before the deadline?

The deadline is Feb 1st so any application to the nursing program submitted by then is definitely being considered. I think you may be seeing people referring to their applications into TWU. You have to first apply to TWU and be accepted, then once you're accepted as a student at TWU you have to apply to the nursing program no later than Feb 1st. They only recommend that you start at least 6 weeks before the deadline because you need to get admitted to the university first and they sat that can take up to 6 weeks.

the spreadsheet and instructions are posted in a comment on page 4 of this thread by TWU. You'll need Excel to open it, and then click "enable editing" and fill it out per their instructions

I haven't taken my TEAS yet. Scheduled to take it 01/18! I took a practice test before I started studying about 2 weeks ago and scored an 86% composite. Using that TEAS score, I have 57.07 points on the spreadsheet. I have a 4.0 Nursing GPA and the prior Bachelor's bump.

Just got my TEAS scores!

Nursing GPA: 4.0

Prerequisite GPA: 3.9

TEAS Composite: 93.3%

Reading: 95.7%

Math: 100%

Science: 93.6%

English: 79.2%

Prior Bachelor's Bump

Total Points: 65.5

That's a great score

For those who have been accepted to the university through Apply Texas, what was the method of communication for official acceptance into the university? My status in WebAdvisor is "accepted", but I haven't received an official email or letter in the mail confirming it. Did anyone else receive anything official and do I have to wait for another form of acceptance to submit my Nursing CAS application?

Thanks in advance!

I received a letter via snail mail. I just submitted to Nursing CAS today.

If it has accepted for the correct term then your golden. All you need is your school ID to apply to CAS.

Is the ApplyTX application ID the same as the TWU student ID?

Also, I remember reading somewhere that transcripts should be sent to TWU directly and not to NursingCas. Is this correct?

OK sorry for over posting today, but I downloaded the GPA worksheet and I'm wondering if this sounds right...

My Core GPA is 3.24

Pre-req GPA is 3.11

TEAS Score: 82.7%

Reading: 85.7

Math: 86.7

Science: 77.1

English: 83.3

No previous degree

My total points are showing: 30.2 (!!!!)

Does this sound right?

Yes, send your transcripts to TWU, they will process your transcripts and everything. Once they have, the application status on NursingCas will show "Complete" under Application Status. I'm a student at TWU and I didn't have to do anything else because TWU has all my stuff.
