TWU fall 2023 applicants

Published

Hi everyone! I am hoping to get a thread started for future Texas Woman’s University nursing students. I have been finishing up my pre requisites and planning to apply for fall nights and weekends. I would love to hear from other potential nursing students hoping to get into the TWU fall 2023 cohort.

Shortly after applying I received an email to create my pioneer portal and was able to log into the applicant section of TWU's WebAdvisor. You can see your admission status there. I received a letter in the mail about 2 or 3 weeks after the decision was posted in WebAdvisor.

Ohh okay, when I had emailed them they just said it was sent by mail so I wasn't aware you could view the status on web advisor. I just checked and I was accepted as of yesterday so now I can finally apply

12/20 ish

I am a transfer student applying for TWU Dallas for Fall 2023 too. I just got my TEAS test done with 95.3, my cumulative GPA from all courses I have ever taken including the previous major is 3.74,and my Nursing pre-reg GPA is 3.95. Do you think it is competitive enough? I heard that TWU switched to holistic decision instead of score worksheet to pick out the applicants. Do you know what the holistic decision is?

Those are great stats! No guarantee, because it depends on everyone else applying but I would think you're DEF more than OK! They still take into account our science GPA, overall GPA on only the general classes that are required(like English, history, ethics, etc), and the  TEAS, but also take into account our short answer questions and experience like having your CNA and already working in a hospital etc.  they used to have a excel spread sheet that gave you points, but from my advising appt, they don't use those points points anymore to make a decision.  The goal of the more holistic approach was to not just be number based anymore, though still holds a lot of weight.  Hope that helps!!

I heard from the a student who got accepted in Fall 2022 as transferred student that she had GPA 4.0 and >90 on TEAS, admission score was around 55-57 as with the old spreadsheet. I think TWU still prioritize their student as if you take 32 credits at the school and around 85 on TEAS with 3.8 GPA, the score is already 60-61. But I believe the new method might slightly change that, but not much. Hope this helps

Yes! It seems slightly less competitive the last few cycles because not as many applicants. I know before it was basically 4.0 and 90+ TEAS for transfer students but I know many transfers that have got got in the last 2 cycles with at least a 3.4 science GPA and 85ish on the TEAS.  So don't lose hope everyone ❤️

I submitted my application this weekend with 4.0 science GPA and 4.0 pre-req GPA. 86.7 on my TEAS. I opted not to take it a second time after reading past cohorts discussion threads. Points in the old system is 50.5 or somewhere close to that. I felt confident after reading 2021/2022 scores, but still extremely nervous!

I feel like my scores are too low. My GPA runs somewhere around 3.75 for basic pre reqs and a 3.8/3.9 for nursing pre reqs.

I am about to take my TEAS and I didn't do so great the first time around. Anyone know if it will be good enough with my scores. Nervous too bc one of my transcripts haven't gone through yet on NursingCAS. Who should I contact?

That's a great GPA, esp for both. Don't sell yourself short.  I've had 4 friends be accepted with 3.4 science GPA and 3.5 reg GPA and there were more in their cycles w similar stats. I'm applying with a 3.85 science GPA and 3.75 overall GPA w/ an 86 on TEAS and I'm hoping for the best.  Just try to shoot as high as you can, mid 80s if you can.  I studied w mometrix, smart edition academy and few youtubers.  Don't lose hope!! And when did you sent the transcript? You can contact NursingCAS and then send it again to be safe.  I believe there's a few week grace period after the application closes for them to get the transcripts since you can apply before they get them. You can just call the reg nursing CAS contact and after a few prompts, you'll get to a person. They were helpful for me.

Does anyone know how they judge your GPA when considering a GPA from a  previous bachelor's degree versus the post graduate course work that you've completed for prerequisites?

For instance, I completed a bachelor's degree in 2020 and my GPA was not fantastic.  But over the past year I have completed all of my prerequisites and currently my transcript shows a 3.0 cumulative GPA including my previous bachelor's course work and and a institution GPA for all of my prerequisites of 4.0. Also had a 92.7 on the TEAS.  Even though my current stats are good, I am worried about the previous degree GPA coming back to bite me in the butt!

Anyone know if me having a career in dental hygiene with an associate of science will help any?!
