TWU Dallas BSN Spring 2015 Applicants

Published

Hello TWU Dallas hopefuls! I did not see a board for the spring 2015 applicants, please let me know if there is one already. Deadline to apply for spring 2015 is September 1, 2014. If you are planning to apply to TWU Dallas, introduce yourself!

I will be finishing my prereqs for TWU at TCC and DCCC this summer. I am currently taking chemistry, lifespan growth and development, nutrition & federal government this semester. I'm taking Micro(summer 1) and retaking A&P 1(summer 2) for the summer. I have to retake A&P1 because it will be 6 years old when I apply(bummer).

This has been a long road for me; to actually be so close is exciting/nerve wrecking! I hope to find comfort in knowing others are going through it too. I was working as a registered medical assistant for an infertility clinic for 4 years and am now just a full-time student/mother/wife.

I'll be entering TWU as core complete from TCC, meaning I will not have to take the other math or woman's studies course.

I am taking patho this fall at the Denton campus. I am pretty disappointed I cannot take it online, online is reserved for RN's that are pursuing their BSN. But, I am happy they dropped the first attempt A preference! This does make GPA more competitive and the TEAS as well, but I think with this change, I will have a better chance! (Made a freaking 88 in statistics) I plan on taking the TEAS in July. This applicant pool has the option to take the TEAS more than once, which is nice if you are not happy with your score. Also, the score requirements have changed and you now have to make at least a 64 on all sections to be considered. We all now it has to be much higher to be competitive! (80+ is competitive from what I have gathered from other posts)

I will be applying with a 3.83 GPA if everything goes as planned.

I am considering TCU as well, but my first preference is TWU.:)

If you just got accepted to TWU Dallas, post your stats to ease those like me!

I look forward to meeting everyone! Introduce yourself and tell us how you are doing.

Those are awesome stats I'm sure you will be just fine. I asked the advisor what the lowest GPA was who got in this fall... 3.26, I was shocked!! But keep in mind preferences were still a major factor.

Hi everyone! I wish you all the best of luck with the upcoming application cycle. I finally got to take the TEAS V tonight, after experiencing a "technical interruption" during the exam when I tried to take it a week ago. The science section never loaded!! I was even more stressed out after I found out there were no more open slots in the Dallas area until Sept. 5. Luckily, there was one slot left at a location in Fort Worth tonight that I was able to get into, even if the drive there was almost two hours for me. Now I am just eagerly awaiting my full set of scores! How long did it take you guys to get your scores back when you took it?

Rn2b2016:),

I took my TEAS test at that exact location in May. I took it on a Saturday around 2pm, and had my scores back by Sunday evening. It shouldn't take too long for you to get yours back. Hopefully you did great!

Hey everyone!

So I retook my TEAS V Exam yesterday (2nd attempt) and am glad to say I made a cumulative score of 87.3%.

Reading = 85.7

Math = 96.7

Science = 91.7

English = 76.7

My prerequisite gpa is a 3.93. I feel confident, but you jut never know...

If anyone needs some last minute advice about the exam feel free to ask!!!

For all those that have already applied, good luck and let the agonizing wait begin!! :)

Hi guys! Deadline is tomorrow!

I stressed about the TEAS V more than I should have. If you did well in your prereqs, you should be fine; though I did study the ATI guide intensely for two weeks and took the online practice tests. Some of the science wasn't in the ATI guide and I had to rely on my previously learned material. The hardest part was the math section because timing was an issue for me. I made a 92.3 overall and submitted my application Friday the 29th. I'm applying with a 3.827 GPA, 92.3 TEAS V, no TWU bump, no previous degree and core complete. Acceptance letters are normally emailed beginning the last week of October and denial letters are sent via mail according to my advisor. Hopefully these two months pass quickly, I'm glad I have patho to keep me occupied!

Good luck to everyone applying!

Hello fellow Dallas hopefuls,

I also applied for Spring ‘15 semester. I just got off the phone with the TWU College of Nursing and they told me approximately 790 applicants applied for this period. I was also told that we should receive notification of acceptance within 4-6 weeks. Last week I had an appointment with a nursing advisor and he mentioned that they will be weighing TWU preferences more heavily this semester (pre-reqs taken at TWU). Eeek! I’m so nervous.

Best of luck to all!

Will they also take into consideration having first attempt A's on the science courses?

I know they accept 110 people for the Dallas program...this makes me nervous because I didn't take classes at TWU..

I was told that that method of evaluation (first attempts) is no longer in effect this application period. The advisor told me they are weighing heavily on the pre-reqs taken at TWU and prior degrees. If I were you I wouldn't worry though! You have some amazing stats!!!

790 applicants for both dallas and houston or just dallas?

The total number of applicants are for both programs ( I checked with the CON on Friday). I am so incredibly nervous! :( Is anyone else checking their TWU e-mail like 4596793847560934867 times a day? Haha

Oh good to know! I thought 790 for just Dallas. I've been super nervous, especially after reading old posts and ppls stats that were denied. This application period will be the first to just weigh previous degrees and TWU credits as preferences.

Me too!!! I feel like my stats won't be good enough :/

And seeing everyone else's on this thread makes me believe it even more. Haha.

I have a 3.543 pre-req GPA and 84% on my TEAS. Although I received my degree from TWU, I don't have the bump because I only have 12 of the 16 pre-req credits taken at TWU. It super sucks. I'm just hoping that my prior degree helps a bit. *fingers crossed*
