Hello TWU Dallas hopefuls! I did not see a board for the spring 2015 applicants, please let me know if there is one already. Deadline to apply for spring 2015 is September 1, 2014. If you are planning to apply to TWU Dallas, introduce yourself!
I will be finishing my prereqs for TWU at TCC and DCCC this summer. I am currently taking chemistry, lifespan growth and development, nutrition & federal government this semester. I'm taking Micro(summer 1) and retaking A&P 1(summer 2) for the summer. I have to retake A&P1 because it will be 6 years old when I apply(bummer).
This has been a long road for me; to actually be so close is exciting/nerve wrecking! I hope to find comfort in knowing others are going through it too. I was working as a registered medical assistant for an infertility clinic for 4 years and am now just a full-time student/mother/wife.
I'll be entering TWU as core complete from TCC, meaning I will not have to take the other math or woman's studies course.
I am taking patho this fall at the Denton campus. I am pretty disappointed I cannot take it online, online is reserved for RN's that are pursuing their BSN. But, I am happy they dropped the first attempt A preference! This does make GPA more competitive and the TEAS as well, but I think with this change, I will have a better chance! (Made a freaking 88 in statistics) I plan on taking the TEAS in July. This applicant pool has the option to take the TEAS more than once, which is nice if you are not happy with your score. Also, the score requirements have changed and you now have to make at least a 64 on all sections to be considered. We all now it has to be much higher to be competitive! (80+ is competitive from what I have gathered from other posts)
I will be applying with a 3.83 GPA if everything goes as planned.
I am considering TCU as well, but my first preference is TWU.:)
If you just got accepted to TWU Dallas, post your stats to ease those like me!
I look forward to meeting everyone! Introduce yourself and tell us how you are doing.
Hi guys! Hope all is well! I can't believe in less than two months the deadline to apply will be here! Since I'm almost finished with my prerequisites(micro right now), I'm taking a trip this week up to Denton to meet with my advisor to ensure everything is in order for me to apply. Only thing left is the TEAS! I was wondering about immunizations also. I've received all of the routine childhood vaccines, but I was wondering if I am up to their standards. On the website it says something about varicella; maybe I just need a titer done. I guess I will find out when I meet with her. Feel free to post your progress yall!:)
Hi Rimmynim, maybe this will put you at ease: I met with my TWU nursing advisor Friday and she told me the average GPA for Fall 2014 class was 3.84 and TEAS average was 84% for those accepted. If my calculations are right lol, the lowest GPA accepted was around a 3.3 with the highest 4.4 (TWU bump)
Obviously every applicant pool is different, but it's a good indicator of the competition out there. One of my questions for her is how close to the deadline can I take the TEAS. She informed me as late at 8/31! I'm not pushing it that close, but good to know the time frame.
As far as filling out the application, I have't started it yet, but I don't think they look at extra activities or volunteer hours.
Hello All!
Deadline is getting closer! EEP!
This is my first time applying, but I'm starting to wonder if my GPA will be good enough. I am in A&P2 right now, but even if I get an A in the class, my GPA only goes up .105 (into a 3.684).
GPA: 3.579
TEAS: 90.7%
And a recent prior bachelor's degree from Texas A&M.
Anyone know how much they focus on GPA vs TEAS?
Hi kevinwatsonedu!
I did not take the Teas more than once but did score a 94.2. I studied from the ATI study guide (the one with the practice tests) and found it the most helpful.
The friends that I have that have taken it more than once told me that the questions are of course different than the first time, but generally the information you are studying is the same so they shouldn't be too different than your first time.
Sorry, I don't know if that helped any and good luck!

From the date that your regular admission appliation was completed (everything received), how long did it take for your application to be reviewed and accepted?
I feel like I've been waiting forever, even though it's been a week since it has said "Ready for Review"
